now they want rhodes no doubt sharp, maynard and beckford

It would be rather amusing if they fail to gain promotion this season. Saints and Boro sounds good .........

Mental. Has a championship team ever had a depth of strikers of that quality?

Apparently they had a 3.2m bid for Rhodes turned down and are set to bid 4m, worth us going in for that much?

No. Not when you could sign Maynard or Sharp for less than that.

Me too.

The latest rumour I have heard is that a deal for Rodriguez is sorted. This is from a different person at work than the one who told me we're in talks with Vokes. Probably means we'll sign neither!

I thought Sharp was supposed to be done deal...there's competition for places and competition for places: :p

Ivan Klasnic - BW friend indicating interest from Saints - contract out this season !! Who knows not heard or seen anything but guess NA & NC always doing business quietly ..

Not a bad shout for a HCDAJFU. Will be 32 a month today, so isn't going to be a long term option, but if we could get him in cheap on an 18 month deal it would be good.

Well we are the Man City of the Championship apparently. If we signed all of them we'd almost have as many strikers as West Ham.

We've probably done a deal for somebody else never mentioned.
seeing as we brought in de Ridder from a Dutch club and there have been links with a Dutch keeper in the press recently, how about a Dutch striker like say...Bas Dost?

Has something like 7 in 13 in the Premier League this season, can't see why he'd drop down to the Championship (although he probably will with Bolton at the end of the season).

I'm guessing - and hoping - we will get one of Rodriguez, Sharp or Maynard.

We're now in a much stronger negotiating position than we were in August.

Firstly, we're a more attractive club to go to as we have a much better chance of promotion than most players would have assumed in the Summer.

Secondly, we have shown we won't pay stupid money just because the selling club asks for it.

Thirdly, the selling clubs have a tougher decision on whether to cash in or let players' contracts wind down.

Solent have tweeted that Saints aren't interested in Sharp or Maynard. I'm not particularly surprised by this. Sharp fell through in the summer so unless Sharp comes back and says he has changed I can't see any reason for the club to go back to Sharp. As for Maynard, they are probably expecting him to go elsewhere with a Prem club more likely.

Is he that good though ? Saw he scored five the other week but was that a fluke ? At 6'5" he does not appear the nippy strike/foil for Lambert many on here are craving for.

I thought the big Dutch potential was Luuk De Jong, but his club seem to want silly money £7-10m. Still perhaps he'll sign same day as Shaqiri.

Matt Phillips for Puncheon + Cash was the one on the Football Rumours site that intrested me. Holloway rated Puncheon and we coverted Phillips before.

To that end if Puncehon could moderate, we could forgive and his return not affect the team morale then he would be a good 'signing' for us.

from the current rumour trail, it seems we maybe "going Dutch " now.. (having had a Swedish influx around 10 years ago)

... BUT I think you'll find that (although it sounds a lot) ..even £7-10 million doesn't buy too much talent in the Prem. nowadays ....

.....and how about Dutch language lessons for the rest of the squad..?

(only joking ..those Dutch people I'm acquainted with speak English quite well )..

All credibility in that article was lost when they stated his release clause as that. It's £3m, confirmed by their chairman.

I can't believe Brighton haven't taken a punt on him. They certainly know about him as my other half's cousin works for Brighton and only mentioned him to me a couple of weeks ago.

Good news for the other teams chasing promotion in the Ryman South though. Eastleigh must be gutted!

Up in Accrington last night. Had a quick chat with Burnley reserve teamer who is best mates with our friends nipper. Jay Rod not happening!! Burnley dont need the cash right now & are pushing for play off. But that may change next summer.

Interesting one on the the Sky Sports rumour site. Kebe to Saints for £2m + Puncheon!!! I think he is out of contract in the summer, but a decent player none the less.

Kebe from Reading ??? Nice one if it happens

Kebe is exactly what we could do with out wide. Pacey, strong, direct....perfect. On his day a top championship player, and a decent premiership player.

Would be a shrewd move as he's still at a decent age, and for him it's probably a good move too as he wouldn't even have to move.

I can't see Reading letting him go to be honest.

If he is out of contract would anyone really pay 2m when they can get him for nothing in a few months??

But he's out of contract in the summer, and has refused a new deal. They'll either get nothing for him in the summer...or (if our interest is true) a couple of million + Puncheon, who is a similar player on his day. Reading aren't flush with cash so they'll probably be tempted.

Perhaps we could sign McCarthy their young GK as well then.
