Crazy Diamond Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 He said the same thing at the end of the last transfer window. Nothing happened.................. Then surely he's taking a big risk by saying it again.
S-Clarke Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 Hooiveld not count? He's probably the same sort of poster who says Adkins signings have been poor. Then conveniently misses out Chaplow, Fox, Cork, Hoovield, De Ridder etc
SaintNeil90 Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 Christ you lot are ridiculous sometimes. Stop over analysing things and wait to see what happens.

Lallana's Left Peg Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 That would be perfect for me. Would be very pleased with the transfer window if that were the case. Same here - that would leave the squad looking very strong and allow us to play those who are in form and not have a few worries impact us so much. The wage bill would take a hammering though!
Wade Garrett Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 South Today's Tony Husbands reckons we'll get another body in before the end of the window. He said Saints wouldn't comment on Billy Sharp and 'make of that what you will', on Twitter. F*ck me, I'm getting really bored of all this sh*t now.

St.Patrik Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 Is the window closing at 5pm on tuesday or at midnight?
Matthew Le God Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 Is the window closing at 5pm on tuesday or at midnight? Neither. 11pm Tuesday 31st January

Told you that back in June. Mid table was our aim....nothing more. Just got to ask, who do you actually support? Are you a troller on every club in the football league saying the same drivel???????Jeez, you have got 24 teams in the championship all finishing 17th, should be interesting to work out the goal difference!!!!!!!!!
Matthew Le God Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 No offence to retarded people. None taken.
student Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 Being somewhat of a neutral fan (a student at southampton uni who has been to watch the team this season) the team needs a bit a cutting edge. Most the home games i've been to the team is reliant on dominating possession and RL putting in some heading. Think the side just needs one player that is effective on the counter for games you don't have as much of the ball.

student Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 totally agree, someone with the pace to break away, we aren't a speedy team by any stretch of the imagination. For a championship team you play pretty good football and try to keep it on the deck more often than not which is encouraging. I just feel in the 50/50 games West Ham have enough to snatch points whilst if crossing doesn't work the saints will drop points. Been saying to my old man all season I thought you'd drop away. Gut instinct is you'll end up 3rd and lose in the play offs. However Southampton are a premiership side and will be there within a few years, hopefully sooner than later. One signing could really be the difference here.
Spudders Posted 27 January, 2012 Posted 27 January, 2012 Gut instinct is you'll end up 3rd and lose in the play offs. Oh FFS that would be less than cool. I hope you're not usually right with your predictions!

That's not exactly a clue though, we don't comment on individuals. Hooper was a bit of a one off because it was such big news up in Scotland.

Generic link between clubs with money and a player in form.
Gordon Mockles Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 If that is the case then why do Cortese and Adkins keep talking about "Getting this fantastic football club promoted to the premier league" ?? You dribbling phuking spastic ! It's all club propaganda doofus! If we had the backing or ambition Cortese purported, we'd be decisive in the transfer market & not fanny around waiting for freebies, tapping up players that don't want to move in the exact same manner when we didn't fully bolster the squad in the summer. They talk the talk & deceive quite well but if we really wanted promotion & to assemble a squad capable of not losing every game in the PL, we'd have surely addressed this established striker need we've been crying out for since Pardew left & we would have acquired 100% quality with the Oxo money (let's not forget that) rather than the 50/50 success ratio Adkins seems to possess in the transfer market. We have over achieved & I hope we stay in the play offs but if the club had as much ambition, financial backing & sense that we were earlier led to believe, we'd not have brought Puncheon back & we certainly would have bid wisely & actually acquired an established, near on PL British striker rather than this f**kin' about bidding the club are purporting we have done. After all, why suddenly change their tight lipped, professional ethos? Maybe cos matters have changed but the public are kept in the dark. I have no idea cos the club don't respect the fans enough to keep them informed unless there is a financial agenda/benefit to the club. Maybe that's the morals of modern day sport.

Told you that back in June. Mid table was our aim....nothing more. How can you possibly say that? Have not heard ANY of the recent Adkins interviews? He has openly come and said that that he wanted us to be in contention (his words - in the top ten) in the new year. More recently he has said, again his words - we want to win this league. So please stop being such a "look at me, being all negative and wanting all the attention" and just get behind the team. Do you really think that we arent looking at bringing anybody else in? If we don't it would not be not trying!

Badger Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 carlos tevez to west ham on loan where's that from ?
S-Clarke Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 where's that from ? Some journalists and a sky sports source on twitter. Can't see it happening.
Dalek2003 Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 where's that from ? Are we after Michael Owen again ?
Gordon Mockles Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Barnsley-could-lose-Ricardo-Vaz-Te-on-a-free-in-the-summer-article858230.html The Mirror are reporting that ourselves, Leicester and West Ham have all had bids rejected this month for Vaz Te. If these rumoured are to be believed, and some must be since the club have nigh on confirmed the Hooper interest, maybe Cortese should, with all his business acumen, form a new committee - the player transfer acquisition department. Get some overtime in before Tuesday!
thornhill_saints Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 jeff stelling 5 minutes ago But he did laugh about it..... also said it's not going to happen!
S-Clarke Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Interesting comments from NA. Seemed to indicate that a couple of deals didn't happen due to last minute hitches, but the chairman is working hard, and deals always happen in the last few days. So it sounds like we're still looking.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 He did also mention the loan window... Great.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 FL_rumours on Twitter suggesting we're after Carlton Cole. Lol.
David Strover Posted 28 January, 2012 Posted 28 January, 2012 Dalek said we'd lose the next five games - we drew today so he was wrong. He hasn't mentioned that whilst he continually flogs his dead horse into a red stain on the floor on every thread he can. Every post mentions 'like I said' or 'I told you so'. Oh boy forums do allow egos that would normally be restrained to few dozen people run unrestrained.... This is how it goes: We will finish 17th or slightly higher because that has been the plan all season. We have no ambition and are tighter than a crabs bottom and will reap the harvest we have sown. We will not be signing any good players on, only cheap crap ones (the most recent staring with 'ha ha' which presumably means he finds it hilarious that fellow Saints fans are hoping for the best. Which is a bit weird or he isn't as Saints fan) The club and a lot of supporters are about 95% blamed for the recent demise because Glen Hoddle was not reappointed. He left the Dr Who Club or whatever childish thing is was because 'it became popular' (this is all you need to know about his personality). I told you so.....on virtually every single post Regular visitors to this site know this very well. Can we know leave it at that please? It is so friggin' tiresome. We know what Dalek thinks and predicts. We know that you being right is more important to you than Southampton FC being successful and we know you must work at a boardroom level at Southampton FC because you seem to know exactly what the the management and CEO think all the time. And we all know that if you are correct on the team's dreadful demise in the coming twenty games that this forum will be a deserted wasteground because you will become unbearable... What's more Dalek has been completely wrong on so many points but some how it is only because of some freakish circumstance. Coventry should have beaten Saints 3-0 but it was only the change in tactics and their woeful finishing in the first half that proved him wrong. Well I don't know what's gonna happen, I don't know what the people who run the club are thinking and I can't predict the future. When I have opinions or views sometimes I am right and often I am wrong but do you know what that's okay I am at ease with that. I'm tired, so very tired. I used to enjoy reading people's views on here and reading about the games and rumours and the jokes and so forth. I stopped subscribing a while ago and now I think my time of being a regular visitor is coming to an end. It is not enjoyable and so depressing at times you'd have thought we were bottom of League 1.
