The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

What a totally dead window, and I'm not talking about us, I'm taking in general.

Nothing has happened in any of the leagues. A few little signings here and there but barley anything has happened for any club.

So we're either going to get a last day rush, or one of the quietest January windows ever.

FWIW we have arguably been one of the most active clubs this window in the championship! (Falque, Lee, Hoovield)

Its quite unlikely there will be a last day rush either bearing in mind there is a full programme in the Championship and half the premier league teams playing.

I cant remeber a window closing on a big matchday before.

Yep, fair point.

I reckon WHU fans are the ones feeling most downbeat regarding all this, their manager came out and said they will sign players, on the first of the month their OS had a story about how they have put in 4 bids for players....and so far we've signed more than them! (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe anyone in the top 6 has signed a player apart from Boro...and us!)

Gold or Sullivan, one of the two, told Hammers fans today to expect at least one major signing in the next two days.

Its a while since I saw Jason Roberts live, but he always seemed a bloody handful to me with pace and real power and aggression. Not exactly our style of player, nor age or wage, but I just wonder if he'd of been exactly what we needed, all be it on loan rather than bought.

Not sure he's what we need right now.

They'll probably overpay for Jelavic.

Huge waste IMO. They'll go up regardless, he's no better than the strikers they already have, just a statement using money they don't have. Odd to choose pompey as a role model.

I can't imagine it's true that they're willing to spunk £7 million up the wall for one single player. Not even them.

My honest advice, being as nice as I can, is that you be wary of the Russian. I know for a fact that BBC Solent asked the FA if they were going to conduct a fit and proper persons test, they said at the time they just weren't bothered. I realise the guy passed the test, but it's so flawed (look at Portsmouth) and there's evidently a lackadaisical approach to it. I'd find it hard to celebrate your new found wealth when Eddie Mitchell carries on as he does and Denim is nowhere to be seen.

Well I think we have come to the stage that we are just going to roll with it and see what happens - a local derby with Bmth Poppies in the Wessex lge if it all goes tits up!

Hard to know if this is saints related but hard to ignore it given the chat this jan but accoring to the sun "Celtic have made a move to sign Real Betis striker Jorge Molina with the Spanish club looking for a transfer fee of £5m."

Didnt think they needed another striker.....

And where are they getting that £5m from...? 2 + 2.....

I reckon he was an option before Punch returned to us.

So do I. Whilst I'm genuinely pleased to have Punch back on the bus, something about it screamed to me that it was because we couldn't get our wing target(s) in.

I would love to see what players have been asking for. Bet it's north of 30k.

Blackpool are contenders for a play off place and aren't hurting for money as they didn't spend big in the PL and have parachute payments coming in.

I really don't know why people are talking as if they'd sell Phillips to another npc team, he's been their standout player since he got in the team this season.

Forte off to Notts County ?

On their OS now. Have to wonder, despite being nowhere near the side even when DC and Guly were the only strikers available if he would be moving on unless the club were confident in bringing in a striker to replace him.

I definitely get the impression we are still trying to bring one or two in' date=' but whether we will actually manage it remains to be seen.[/quote']

Agreed. We were told by Nigel that deals tend to happen at the end, he's now said watch this space and we're ahead of schedule. I can't imagine he'd say all that for nothing, it wouldn't help him if he did.

just listened to latest adkins interview on SP. Ref transfers he said "watch this space" and that we have got ourselves in a great position ahead of schedule but we need to grasp it. sounds positive to me.

It does sound positive. The fact that the question was fed to him by the club's interviewer is positive in itself. If nothing was doing would it even have been brought up?

Why does 'watch this space' mean we are going to sign someone.

It is just a standard 'wait and see' comment from Adkins.

As far as I am concerned that means we may or may not sign anyone else.

Have to agree, just seemed like a normal run of the mill Adkins interview to me.

Surely if our business was finished he'd have said so. Also, 'watch this space' tends to imply there will be something to see. Hence, the interpretation that we might be in the market for someone else. That's certainly how I saw it.

I'm not saying our business is over, i just didn't think there was anything to take from the interview, just thought it was his usual answers.
