It's been a fantastic first half of the season, better than I ever imagined but I don't think we'll see it through. We must sign a quality striker and a decent keeper in January without a doubt but I just feel we will end up in the play offs and ultimately, miss out.Sorry, just the way I feel.

Yes - every promotion chasing team has a wobble - this is ours and the way other results have gone we haven't damaged our position too much as yet. That being said, next week is massive as our the games against Palace and City at home. If we can get to January clear in the top two then I really think we will do it. With a fully fit squad plus another striker (I really think we'll end up bagging JRod) then I can't see us blowing it.

I reserve judgement till I see the results of the January transfer window. All will become clear at that time.

We dont currently have the squad strength to sustain the campaign to secure promotion.

I agree with this.

However I am starting to believe. We've had years of expecting saints to fail, people have got used to it. I certainly have. Even last season we still did it the hard way. Maybe just maybe it will be different this year.

At last - a decent thread. No. We have made a great start, but I just can't see us maintaining our form throughout the season. We have dipped the last couple of games, and the pressure is only going to get more intense as the season draws to a close. Very, very difficult to win it from the front (unless you have a massive points advantage early on - which we don't), somebody is going to come from the pack and nick it at the last.

Totally agree. If were serious about going up, we need to look at a couple of prem fringe players willing to drop down for a few months. Once the transfer window has closed, and new players have had a couple of games to bed in, then I will start to believeif we are still up there.

I think I read the other day that five times in the last six seasons the team at the top of the table at christmas has been promoted. Get a result next week and that will be us....

WE will be top at Christmas unless we lose on sunday, West Ham win at home to Barnsley (despite tonight's result Barnsley are not a bad team and could do us a favour) AND there is a 6 goal swing in goal difference.

Actually, all will become clear when it's a mathematical certainty either way.

WHU had the chance to go top today, but they imploded. Who do you think will be feeling better tonight, us or them? In theory, they have a stronger squad than us but I would back the Player Whisperer every time over Fat Sam to get the best out of the squad. Just have faith in NA and believe that he is with us for the long haul. I feel the rise and rise of SFC will continue for some time and I am not being happy clappy, I honestly think he is the real deal, I mean, some people are even suggesting he might be a future England manager (hopefully when he's about the same age as Bagpuss).

Personally I think we will do it via the playoffs for some reason. Just think a couple of teams will catch us up and make it a difficult end to the season. Reckon our class would get us through the pressure of the playoffs though.

Actually think we have the strikers we need in Connolly and Barnard. Just need them to get playing time and fully recovered.

I don't see why not. Was expecting to go into Christmas higher mid-table with a shot of the play-offs with the right strengthening. Being top at Christmas, as it looks like we will be, means the strengthening is to stay exactly where we are and gives us a better chance of getting players that may not have come without such good promotion odds.

Not on our current form. Away from home we've been very unconvincing.

We have, but we are still top quite comfortably. It's almost a case of asking is there really any better? I don't think there is, we can all be **** in this league at times.

Yes. Half way through and we are top. I haven't seen anyone better so why not? Everyone can beat everyone in this league (except for Coventry) and so it will be a close call at the end. As long as we maintain a good home form then we will be there or thereabouts.

I don't think our recent form will continue - I believe it this is our poorer run. Even this current form, 10 points from 6 games, would be enough for promotion.

Win most of our home games and we will be up.

Few teams with our start fail.

Infact not many teams match our start.

Most people will expect us to get promoted.

Will be interesting to see where we can improve in January.

I would like to see a fast direct CF

depends on your view as current.

last 6 games have given 10 points - our worst run this season I think.

If we carry on that low level of performance when, according to some we have imploded, we will finish on about 85 points and go up.

Due to great start we are only likely to need 10 points from each 6 games. As, on average, those 10 games will include 3 home - winning most at home will get us up.

Very, very achievable.

Yes I do,we may have done less well in our last few games but the rivals haven't done much better. It's a tough league full of sides with some decent players who may or may not make a difference on any given day.Having seen Reading-West Ham yesterday I thought that getting a point at Reading looks like a real result and yet they're hovering just above mid-table.I think it's a league where getting points on the board early will make a great deal of difference at the end of the season.

Bookies seem to think roughly the same, think we're favourites for the title again now but for some strange reason or other West Ham are at a shorter price (slightly) for automatic promotion.

No. It was obvious that we did not show our intent properly in the summer transfer window. I think we are still building and in many ways need another season to strengthen.

I think our whole issue is that we were looking to consolodate and build for next season. Our whole structure, buying targets, bringing through young raw talent, experimental tactics, etc has been towards keeping us in a top ten position this season. I think that everyone has been surprised at how well we have done and we are simply 'Not Ready'. I think the money and wages asked, and the promise of another couple of years until the prem has put a few signings off.

Suddenly we look like we could be going up.

Unsure. I'm really enjoying the football at the moment and I wonder if I will if/when we get to the Prem. I'm of the opinion, that we need to invest in players if we want to get promoted.

I said at the end of last season, that I wanted us to sign a keeper as I have never rated Bart (but heck, what do I know if NA does) and a striker, as DC and Barney are not going to do it for us this season.

Oh dear, I should delete the above as it is not a Yes or No answer!

We need to improve our away form if we want to be promoted.

If we carry on doing as we're doing away from home, it will start to hang over on our home form and we'll slide down the league pretty quickly.

If we can add a bit of pace to the team in January then I think we have different options to use in games, especially away on the break etc. We never really replaced Chambo's pace, and If he was here this year I'm pretty confident we'd have won a few more games.

Overall though, the fact we're even talking about this in december is pretty impressive. 2011 has been a year to remember for SFC - let's hope 2012 can take us up another notch.

Agree. I would think that there is a very good chanc that we will strengthen in January. We are holding our own.

I think we will, providing we sign the right 2-3 players in Jan. Pacey striker and winger are essentials. Although i appreciate your opinion, i really hope that our fans don't start giving up, because that will effect players. Get behind the team, keep the faith, we'll get there. COYR

Yes

All teams get injuries... and generally we've coped with ours...and we will strengthen. Our away form, I believe, will improve to compensate for a few results that may not quite go for us at home. We will get promotion as other teams will end up taking points off each other... and our FANTASTIC start means we are rightly in pole position! Name a better team- .... no one is better imho, although we may have the odd result go against us, eg Doncaster. I fully expect NA to be manager of the season and to be plotting Saints course in the premiership by the end of April.

I have been saying that since July.
