January - Ins and Outs

It's that time of year again when we're coming up to the 'panic buy' transfer window. So what do you reckon then? A striker with some pace is a must IMO. We need a bit more physical presence too, but I'm not sure bringing in another 2 strikers is good for moral or the finances. Maybe we can find someone with a bit of pace. A new Kenwyne maybe.

I'd like to see another right midfielder. We haven't really replaced Chamberlain other than De Ridder, who looks good in patches but is yet to convince. Again, I'd like a bit of pace here. Someone like Antonio, although not him as such.

No doubt people will panic and say 'keeper after today, but I don't think so. Assuming Kelvin isn't seriously injured, he is fine and goalies don't tend to pick up many injuries, unless they have an underlying problem. Bart IS a good 'keeper. Yes he had a 'mare today, but so did Rickie at Bristol a couple of weeks ago. Nobody was saying he should never play for Saints again. It seems people are willing to ignore 5 arguments against their opinion, but will leap on anything which supports it like a hobo on a ham sandwhich. After all, Kelvin had 2 complete howlers just after he signed. One was a free kick which almost identical to Bart's big error today, the other was trying to run the ball out of play against that dead bloke.

As for outs

Dickson - Not getting near the bench.

Forecast - We have to keep trying. If he was a horse he'd have been glue years ago.

Jaidi - I don't think anyone would take him, but he is surplus to requirements.

Holmes - I'm sure we can find better.

Ward Prowse - Didn't play very well at Palace, so he's clearly not good enough. Get rid FFS!

Forte - Was never more than an average League 1 player if we're being honnest.

Edit: Forgot Forte. Understandable I think.

Have thought for a while we need another RM, and the striker position is a no brainer.

Totally agree with you on the need for pace. We need to have that to change it around every now and then, and having someone playing on the shoulder feeding off Lambo could be a stunning partnership.

Holmes will probably leave once we get in our new wide player, Jaidi is out injured and retiring at the end of the season. He'll stay here and become a coach IMO.

Forecast - no comment, bored with him. I think Dicko is injured, but he won't get near this team anymore.

Was talking to some blokes as we walked out the Kingsland today who seemed to think a Maynard deal was already done.

Reckon we could do with a RM, Striker and maybe another central defender on loan (if Jose or Jos get injured for a long time can Martin step up? Cork is wasted there as well.)

On another note what's the keeping prospects in the youth team like - not asking just cos of Barts performance today. Just wondering.

Is this in there for a joke or are you really an idiot??

Bin a promising youngster after one solitary appearance? And one that most people thought he did well in? Madness!!!!!!!!!!

In:

Striker Leigh Griffiths for a FM signing...

Winger urm no idea it'll be a supprise but weirdly we look a team without a natural right winger which I cant guess any other team has this problem with.

CB meh not a priority now Jos is strapped in the bus

Keeper will be needed as it'd be silly to have kelvin as a long term prem keeper

Out:

Holmes, Dickson, Forecast and of course Forte. A list of players that have no shot at the bench unless we have some serious injury problems... (probably why holmes has had a bash)

IN:

JRod

McCarthy (on loan from Reading if we can steal him from Leeds)

Matt Phillips from Blackpool - thought he looked dangerous today.

OUT:

Much as everyone else has said.

Agree with Phillips, have been a big fan since his Wycombe days and was frustrated we didn't sign him then (we tabled a couple of bids for him).

Not sure Jay Rod is the type of player we need, we need a forward with pace who can play on the shoulder.

I think that it's not so much just about January in and outs but also what we need to do in the summer as well. Making wholesale changes in a single window is never normally advisable, but if we are serious about being in the Premier League next season I think we need to be looking for about 7 or 8 players, spread over the next two windows. These need to be better than those we already have (not bench warmers).

Goalkeeper - KD + another. Offload Bart, not a knee jurk to today's shocker, but generally I don't think he has been that convincing when he has filled in for KD.

Left back - Harding + Fox - Offload Dickson

Right Back - Richardson + another. Offload Butterfield

Centre Back - Left footed centre back - Jos + another - offload Jaidi and Seaborne. Right footed centre back - Fonte + another. Retain, but Loan out Martin.

Right wing - Chappers + De Ridder - offload Puncheon

Centre Midfield - Cork, Spiderman and Hammond + another

Left Wing - Lallana + another - offload Holmes

Centre Forward - Lambert, Guly + another. We need to see how Barnard performs in the 2nd half of the season, if he doesn't cut it then we will need to replace him as well - offload Connolly.

Key positions that we need to sort ASAP are an additional striker with height and pace, a left winger (with pace), so that we have the option of playing Lallana in the hole behind the main striker. Anoher left footed centre back - we are screwed if Jos gets injured until such time as Jaidi and Seaborne are fit (which doesn't look like being anytime soon).

Should have been sorted in the summer....said so and have been banging on about it. Once again I have been proven correct and we will finish around 17th at the end of the season.

When we finish 17th, will you gloat with tremendous pride on this site and then naff off for good! Last time I looked we are 3 points clear with 2 games left in Dec!!! Jan perfect time to supplement solid sqaud with players who will enhance the squad further!! Panic buys, RIGHT???
