DrunkenSaint Posted 11 December, 2011 Share Posted 11 December, 2011 lol not sure why ppl are having a pop at Morgan, it's Hammond who should be questioned, Morgan played bloody well yesterday on the right and when he went back to CM, yes he should of had a shot at goal but instead he passed BUT all our midfielder's do it. We are scared to shoot at distance probably been told to keep passing it by NA til we are in the 6 yard box but this aint working. Of all the games i've seen this season (home and away) Hammond has been very very poor apart from the first 2-3 matches at the start of the season. Even when Chappers is in the team we don't have any width but Chappers gives that little something else so we can get away with it but for how long is unclear. NA needs to work out different tactics for different teams and if we are either home or away, i've said this before we have been found out about this diamond formation and it just does not work all the time. SDR should be used as a forward if NA does not like him in midfield but what we lack in midfield is a pacey winger who can take on the full backs and place crosses in. Not one forward run yesterday from a midfielder beat a defender, they would rather pass the ball back and slow down the attack. We need to buy someone or NA needs to tell the currant midfielders to beat defenders and get crosses in, too many times we try and pass the ball once too many, yes it looks nice but id rather see many simple goals coming from crosses than 1 goal coming from 20 passes. Getting on subject, drop Hammond, make Cork captain play a simple 442 get in a good right sided player with pace and then use the rotation system in the CM like we used to. Junior Mullet Posted 12 December, 2011 Share Posted 12 December, 2011 There are loads of midfielders who could do a better job for us than Morgan. I agree he rarely does much. Who here would not swap Morgan for a second Chaplow?
dellgirl Posted 12 December, 2011 Share Posted 12 December, 2011 It is really sad that some people, whom I hope go to games, can't realise that Morgan is our best player,he is just 22 and will be the lynchpin of our side in the future. Some on here are very bitter about him which is very unfair as he has been a loyal and good servant of the Club since he arrived 4 years ago and has committed to the side and its future, support him ,don't knock him all the time,I am sure he does as he is asked by the manager and will carry out his instructions to the best of his abilities.Support the Frenchman..he is worth it ! Bearsy Posted 12 December, 2011 Share Posted 12 December, 2011 Who here would not swap Morgan for a second Chaplow? I wouldn't! Chaplow catches the eye I grant you with this bald head and enthusiastic running, but Morgan has a much better first touch, range of passing and is unquestionably better looking. david in sweden Posted 12 December, 2011 Share Posted 12 December, 2011 Think it's a bit unfair to make sweeping judgements about SDR. He has come on quite a few times - in different situations and taken different roles. Sometimes when we are leading and it gives some extra bite to the attack, others when we are struggling a bit and he gives us another dimension. He has come off the bench no less than ..18 times already this season, and often as 2nd or 3rd change...and yet he's scored 4 times. He has subbed for Connolly 6 times, Lallana and Guly 4 times each, Hammond twice and Chaplow and Cork once each. Pretty versatile, eh ? For someone who doesn't have a clearly defined role from the start every week and has replaced 6 different players, I think it's hard for us to offer any type of criticism when he's thrown in, often for a very short period and expect him to shine. Three of his goals have come quite late on; the consolation goal at Cardiff was in injury time, his conversion of that wonderful Guly flick-on won us a point at Reading, and he scored the last goal at Coventry (to make it 4-2). I think he's got a lot of potential, but until / or if ...he gets a regular spot, will we really be able to judge his true worth. At present it feels like he's fallen into the same category as two past players who always made a good contribution to the side, without ever tying down a spot of their own. I refer to Jo Tessem and Rory Delap. Willing to stand up and fill the breach in any position they were asked to play, but never became a fan's favourite because of it.
