Johnny Shearer Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/dec/09/nigel-adkins-therapy-southampton Interesting read on the manager.
dan17 Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 Yeah just saw this too actually! A good read I thought, although I didn't like talk at the end about going on to a higher level with more high profile players. I guess thats the price of success - unwanted media speculation. Pugwash Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 Player Whisperer! Like it - and he's managed in the UEFA cup...
Matthew Le God Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 I didn't like talk at the end about going on to a higher level with more high profile players. I guess thats the price of success - unwanted media speculation. They are the words of Ian Baraclough, Nigel's former player and coach at S****horpe, not the journalist's view. If you're going to manage in the premier league it's going to be on a higher level with higher profile players FFS.
dan17 Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 Granted Turkish, but to me it seemed to imply another job at another club. Maybe it is just my pessimistic reading of the article. So sorry to have caused offence!

Of course - we are the Barcelona of England and all that.

So sorry to have caused offence! I agree, it does sound like he is implying another club. But it is Barraclough saying it, not the journalist. dan17 Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 Yes, you did mention that.... And all I was saying is that I didn't like it, no matter who said it.
cellone Posted 9 December, 2011 Share Posted 9 December, 2011 Thought he was just singing his praise. Would prefer to see 'as Southampton F.C become' shoe horned into the bit about managing a club at a higher level.
sammysaint Posted 10 December, 2011 Share Posted 10 December, 2011 To be honest why would leave us if he can take us up and create his own great Southampton team and stay in the prem with us, not many teams in England that are bigger then us that would take him, maybe a Newcastle Villa or Everton, but with the vision of NC and NA we could become a top 8 regular. Legod Third Coming Posted 10 December, 2011 Share Posted 10 December, 2011 I am going to have £10 that he will be England manager on day !! I never put a man off a bet - but I wonder whether the Adkins' style is suited to international management?
Andy Durman Posted 10 December, 2011 Share Posted 10 December, 2011 NA has a job to do and that's get Saints into the Premier League and once there he has another job to do - to keep us there!! I think he will be at Saints for a long time and has the opportunity to be a greater manager than LM. I hope he achieves all his ambitions with Saints!!! What fun we'll have.
