Why is it ? We're doing something that hundreds of other teams already do. It's barely news even to the most desperate of fans.

Hundreds of other teams?

Are you saying that something should be innovative to be considered newsworthy?

It's news, it's a slow day / week but it's news nonetheless.

Those lights cost an absolute fortune so i doubt if there are "hundreds of clubs" with them.Wife has some for her Botany

stuff,Lyon Uni paid for them of course but I saw the invoice....could have got a ST and return plane tickets every other week for that price, I'm sure the Uni accounts dept wouldn't have noticed.

This is hardly innovative.

It may not be innovative per se ... but do many clubs outside The Prem have it? Do all Prem clubs have it even?

If it keeps the pitch in tip top condition aiding us to play our quick passing football ... and shows that money is being invested in the club for long term gains, then I'm all for it, even if it may not be reviting viewing.

Now to keep up with our neighbours what about cubicle number 22 that doesn't flush properly FFS.

Will come into its own when we have extra tier of seating on 3 sides of the ground and sunlight is more restricted than now :-)

I look forward to the SaintsPlayer report on the new quick drying paint. It should be even less exciting.

Think Andy Gray was actually a touch embarrassed that he was being interviewed about a new lighting rig. Wonder if it can double up for concerts.

Hang on a minute! We had grow faster lights before at SMS, or did we just have them on loan? They used them in the Chapel goalmouth as in the winter despite the glass roofing that end does not get the sun. They made the grass a slightly different shade of green.

Or did RL sneak those ones out bit by bit in his briefcase in readiness for the wacky backy factory he knew he would need to supplement his income in the years ahead.

Most Premier clubs have undersoil heating which makes the grass grow in Winter(if switched on) so do not need lights. We do not have undersoil heating

Undersoil heating doesn't provide the light grass requires in the winter months for long periods in order to photosynthesise. This new lighting system does.

They have lights like these at the Emirates.

A weird effect in the winter as you can hear the birds sing throughout the night (probably more singing at midnight at Arsenal on a cold Tuesday evening, than on a normal matchday).

I can't believe we've signed these lights. What if they disrupt the squad harmony?

I think it's best we carry on with the bare minimum, what if these lights aren't good enough should we make the Prem?

If Nigel thinks they're good enough to be in the building then thats good enough for me.

Not sure how he plans to get them on the bus though. They look quite bulky.

Yes we did but they were static and effectively amounted to half a dozen bulbs on a tripod. It got over the problem with the roof at that end but this seems to be taking the technology on to a whole new level.
