Pilchards Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 Heard this evening that the Pompey new manager is on the verge of quitting & the WBA loanees are going back after Saturday as they can't afford them. With our away form it might be evenly matched now. Who would want to take over Pompey next?

Jack Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 I think it's a terrible time to play them. Not just because we can't win away and they keep winning at home, but for them it's one of those 'the world is against us, last hurrah' sort of situations. I'll be there, and I'll sing my heart out, but I think we're going to lose.

Most of our players wont have played in an atmosphere like they'll be in for. If they come out of the blocks quickly and get an early goal it's going to be a long afternoon. saints_is_the_south Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 Every day that goes part the harder I am finding it to think about anything other than December 18th, even though we have another game before it. Head says 1-1 draw, heart says 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go and Super Rickie pops up with an equaliser. The momentum is then all ours and we bag a winner with 5 minutes to go, RL again and win 2-1. Voldermort has already come out and denied that he is thinking of leaving and that he's committed to the blue few's cause. Stranger things have happened but I don't see him abandoning the sinking ship, not just yet anyway.

Jack Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 At least we've got some recent experience of Fratton Park standard pitches - D&R, Exeter, Hartlepool etc. I think the 1st goal is crucial, if we concede it, we won't win. Time for a lot of players to stand up and be counted. Same could be said for our fans

I think and i hope this team are made of sterner stuff. I think we have more 'big game players' these days. When they need to turn it on, they generally do. We have a lot of experience in our squad, even in the younger players I think we'll go 1-0 just before half time. Come out 2nd half, score early then go onto win. Will be nervy but we'll manage. I think I'd sell my soul for a 0-5 win Edited 6 December, 2011 by Golden Balls

James Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 Find it very difficult to believe that Voldy will walk away from Pompey - as has been said he has nothing to lose and can leave with his reputation in tack if they go bust as he can say its a difficult situation and all that. Either way, its neither a good/bad time to play them - they have been alright at home this season and we have been poor away. We have better quality players and if we play our best then we can win. But then again we should really have tonked Donny. I think it will be a draw if I had to bet on it.

VectisSaint Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 Jos ... Celtic v Rangers ... he'll cope Jos never played in a Glasgow derby. He only played for Celtic 8 times in total. Hamilton & Kilmarnock in 2009/10, Aberdeen, Inverness CT (twice), St Mirren & Hearts (2010/11) & Braga (home and away) in the Chumps League (he may have also played against Utrecht). Can't see that playing Caly Thistle is much of a comparison with the Skates (except that Thistle are better).
Graffito Posted 6 December, 2011 Share Posted 6 December, 2011 Look at the league table. Which is the better team? It doesn't matter when we play them because we are the better team so we have every chance of beating them. Unlike Redknapp when we last played at FP I expect Adkins to send the players out feeling 10ft tall likehe did when we clinched promotion away to Plymouth last season. Let's all show a bit of faith. And I trust you lucky gits with tickets will to do your bit as well.

There is no way he would go back to coaching now he has finally got one of the coveted 92 managers positions. I'm sure the opportunities that he perceives this job offers him will make him forgive a few late pay cheques. After all as a manager he remains a primary creditor. Same could be said for our fans Unfortunately some of the lightweight 'fans' have already shown their true colours with their excuses for not bothering. Let's hope this attitude hasn't transfered to the players if they read/hear some of the comments. Although the same can be said for them with how long home tickets have been unsold. It does make you laugh when you hear some of our lot trying to put this 'derby' on a par with the big ones. No let up from the ones there...but to those it may concern, don't join in with "Pay up p*mpey". Tw*ts.

Daren W Posted 7 December, 2011 Share Posted 7 December, 2011 Has anyone asked themselves if Pompey are up for it? A lot of the players in our squad have experienced a loss in South Coast derby game, the skates don't..... I'd be asking ourselves are the skates up for it? Are they gong to, as the skates will no doubt tell us, going to put themselves on the line for the club or will they treat this just like any other game? shurlock Posted 7 December, 2011 Share Posted 7 December, 2011 This fixture means more to the fans than the players - and am happy if NA et al. view the game as just another 3 points up for grabs, albeit at a team with a resolute home record. Frankly, it takes more bottle to go on the kind of run we did last season, see off a team like Huddersfield and not cave under the near insistent pressure of being promotion favourites than play a local rival away. Am less bothered about their their form than having a full squad to pick from which at the moment is touch and go. No doubt, if we lose though, this place will be chockablock with all kinds of moronic suggestions that the occasion was too big for us.
