Wearing a Saints shirt.

My new Saints shirt arrived today, 4 months after ordering it. Took it for a test-wear in Seville. I was amazed at the reaction I got from people. I was stopped by a Spanish guy who said that Saints had been his team since he was young and another guy came up to me and started singing 'Oh When the Saints go Marching in'!!! I was also stopped in the street by a couple of Anders Svensson's teammates from Elfsborg. I was surprised to find so many Saints fans, here in Seville. It does help when SFC stands for Southampton Football club and Sevilla Futbol Club. Has anyone else had any interesting things happen to them while wearing the shirt? COYR!!

I have worn mine several times in Vietnam and I have always been surprised by the amount of locals who seem to know so much about Saints. Most of them remember us from the Premier League days and so players such as Matt Le Tissier are mentioned as well as more recent players like Niemi and Beattie. But some even seem to know Lallana, Chaplow and Lambert.

We really are spreading throughout the world!

I was interviewed by a Peruvian TV channel at Machu Picchu this year as the reporter was interested in the likeness of the Saints sash shirt I was wearing to the Peruvian national team's kit. Of course I told him that they had clearly stolen the design from us, as football hadn't yet reached Peru 125 years ago :-)

Everyone else in South America thinks I am wearing a Peru or River Plate shirt when I have the sash on, even though their sashes go the opposite way diagonally.

People used to be quite positive in Plymouth about Saints, but now I wouldn't even think about wearing a kit around here! When people ask who I support the reply from them is Portsmouth a lot more often now PAFC have been relegated, I don't know if it's because they've gone down and people have decided to start supporting the other navy club, people are just trying to wind me up or pure coincidence?

If you're over the age of 14, you shouldn't even own a replica shirt...

Why? THey look great on middle aged blokes, especially ones that are at least two stone overweight, it shows of their beer gut nicely. It's also a staple fashion item to be worn over a hooded top.

Yea. Listen to Saint Mikey - the father of COOL. If he finds you wearing a shirt and you are over the age of 14, well you better look out baby, Mikey and his wild gang of cool cat assassins will be on your ass, man. Real heavy.

HA!Frankly, anyone who feels upset or put-out by what other people wear, so long as it's not intentionally offensive really needs to take a closer look at themselves.

Seeing a badly dressed fat man offends me. Especially if he is wearing a shirt designed to be worn by an athlete, not someone who seems to have got lost on their way to a darts match.

I wasn't wearing a Saints shirt at the time, but a couple of months ago I attended a Red Star Belgrade match and started chatting to some locals. He asked who I supported and got all excited when I said Saints. He liked us as we play in the same colours as Red Star, he knew our recent results and Peter Crouch was his favourite English player (lol).

Then again, we're a f*cking massive club so it should be expected.

Premier League Football is shown on TV's right across the planet, so it is not really surprising that those footy mad people where ever you go have some knowledge of present and past PL clubs. I've watched PL matches live on tv in Aswam (Egypt), where you will also see Manure, Chelski, etc shirts. The PL is a huge potential advertising space for your Clubs merchandising operation. Which is another reason why NC wants us there asap.

Really?

I live in Plymouth and have always had a good response when I say I'm a Southampton fan. They still seem a bit tender about the whole Luggy thing, and the trouble in the home sections when we played them last year. However they still see Pompey as a bit of a rival because of the Navy connection.

I've met loads of Saints fans down here

Whilst trekking to the south pole last year with two chums (all wearing replica shirts and SFC acrylic bobble hats), we were overtaken by a group of Norwegians who shouted 'our Claus in the middle of a fence' (sic) as they drew level, and 'scummers' as they went past. We tried to catch them up to remonstrate but it was like Telemark all over again!

B*stards...

I went to the club shop last week to buy a Saints shirt for my lad only to find they are out of all boys sizes and don't know whether they will have any more in before Christmas. Not very impressive at all, it must be their best selling product before Christmas and they don't have any.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago, they took my details & I subsequently received a phone call saying that thet will be in on the 22nd Dec.

My Saints shirt only really gets an outing on match days, although occasionally I wear it to the gym which is based in Crawley. On those occasions people sometimes look at me and I look back at them in a way that says "Yes. We are top of the f*cking league"
