Well this is just not true, had mates who didn't bother applying because they had no aways, put in for the second ballot and have been told they weren't succesful. We've sold out easily.
Season ticket holders? How was it communicated to them that they'd been unsuccessful?

That could be one of two things:

1. We have sold out and therefore they missed out due to having no away games;

2. Their application was refused because the article on the OS said that the criteria for the second "ballot" was those already successful who wanted an extra ticket or fans on the database with 4 or more away games.

If they've simply refused them a ticket because they've got no aways, but we've not sold out, that's ****ing ridiculous. However, seeing the way they seem to operate these days, it also wouldn't surprise me.

Sorry to be a kn*b but I completely made that up. I just wanted to prove that anyone can post anything and people will jump on it as gospel. I would be massively surprised if we haven't sold this out and I simply cant see that 400 tickets have been sent back, thats a sh!t load tickets to return for a local derby, especially as we're top of the league.

I'd wait until we hear more (unlikely - the skate os is more reliable) until claiming out support is sh!t and we should be embarrassed.

Saints fans in "trusting other Saints fans with information they post on a Saints messageboard" shock. Well done.

I would love to go, but haven't had the money this year to go to away games as well as home games. I appreciate that rewarding travelling Saints fans is a good system, but if it is true that we've returned 400 tickets then why not offer them to ST holders or people on the database? I can't help but think this isn't true, we would surely sell the tickets somehow.

IMO the main reason for the problems with shifting tickets has been the lunacy that the TO and police have brought to the whole process. I have no doubt that we could sell this batch out a couple of times over if the 'restrictions' were lifted, but its been shrouded in so much mystery, it's just a ****ing joke. People on other threads have been saying they havn't been successful in the ballot, yet we have 'supposedly' returned tickets. The whole thing is a joke and if we have returned tickets, they could easily be snapped up if, as someone else pointed out, they put them on sale at the TO. Is it just ST holders that can buy tickets still?

Forget this OP. I know the bloke that posted in the other thread that he'd called the club and had been told everyone was successful, he's got no reason to lie or BS.

I guess because there's nothing in it, money wise, for Saints.

Also did anyone see Saturday’s Daily Echo?

They did a full page on the bubble arrangements, with two sides given for and against the use of the bubble, the against side was argued by Steve Grant of Saintsweb fame and came across making all the correct points, highlighting inconvenience and freedom of movement.

The For argument was written by celebrity copper Rick Burrows and was quite simply the most mis-informed disgusting read , in his attempt to justify use of the bubble he goes on to say that unfortunately football violence has been linked to tragedy too often in the past but then uses the examples of HILLSBOROUGH and BRADFORD!!!

I am tempted to do a letter to the echo and to Mr Burrows to point out that Bradford was caused by a FIRE IN A WOODEN STAND, and Hillsborough was caused by over-crowding, fans without tickets, POLICE incompetence, and fencing. Nothing that his Bubble will assist with!!!!

Just read that for the first time. pretty vile taste that someone would use this sort of thing to justify a contreversial decision. Not surprising though sadly.

you're not going to Fratton either then? i am sure you'll be safe in your nice and friendly household shouting at your tv then rushing on here to discuss the performance

Im not going to Fratton either. I have cleared the house of kids and women talking about shopping and I will be shouting at the tv followed no doubt by a quick visit on here depending on the result.

As much as I would like to, unfortunatly I dont have the option of going so at home with the TV is the best thing I have got. Such a bad fan n all that.

No, but I think you'll find it ties in with the post on the other thread from someone who called the club to be told that everyone that applied in both ballots got a ticket. Still think we sold out?

Is this confirmed? I haven't heard a thing about the 2nd ballot yet.

I think people are getting excited over an unfounded rumour.

I guess it's because we didn't have enough people who meet the criteria. I mean if we had 3200 tickets this time that's more than we took anywhere but Reading.4 aways out of 10 is quite a percentage.I'd think the Saints would make plenty out of the bus fares.

I haven't got 4 away games but applied on the off chance.

No e-mail yet but no tickets showing on my on-line account either so I guess I won't be going.

Although I would rather be going I'm not that gutted really. It's not just the inconvenience of having to travel to Southampton first on the day but having to travel down twice (I don't have a ST), as I also have to pick up my coach ticket before the day, makes it such a pain in the ****.

I'm sure I'll be more disapointed that I'm not there when I see the Saints fans going mental in the stands on the TV but as of right now... meh.

I got mine from 6 aways as did the rest of my group but i've still not heard back on the 1 aways i put in separately (though i can't log in to the online thing as mine is ****ed) and i do know someone STH with 1 away who wasn't successful so i suspect this is bull**** as per most things on this site.

Could this be the "400" (or so) discrepancy between what the T/O were insinuating our allocation to be and what was reported on the blue few OS? I remember several on here saying they were told 2,700/2,800, when their OS was saying 3,200. Think the former is more likely with the extra segregation and netting required for this game.

Posted
Personally the fact they never said the number of tickets we received, and refused to tell people who asked, they then did a criptic announcement that "tickets has been taken up" when we know usually they would say saints have sold out X amount of tickets.

very strange.

I've said all along that we wouldn't sell out and that the police will just say empty seats at the end of the stand are sterile zones or some other buzz word.

Posted

untrue, Saints earn commission on every away ticket sold for league games.

Maybe we shouldn't jump the gun here, it's only 'another' rumour over this debacle.

IF they've sent tickets back it would be because they 'wouldn't' sell them rather than 'couldn't' as I know of a number of people who've applied but haven't heard anything. This suggests they've been very selective in who gets them.

This figure of 3200 keeps coming up, and I know it was reported on their OS, but I'm fairly certain that end doesn't hold that many. It was rammed with Brighton, Leeds and a few others and the most is around 3000. Despite what dune keeps banging on about I can see no way the OB aint gonna demand a section of seats either side of that end be used for segregation. If all this is so I can't see us having any more than 2800 (2400 IF we've sent back 400).

So if the OP has any truth in it then I'd say it's almost definitely a case of 'wouldn't' not 'couldn't'.

Lol at all the pathetic Danny Dyers making out this is some sort of dangerous mission into enemy territory.

Grow up you sad losers.

brighton were allocated arround 3,150 back in august. I'm sure there would have been a bigger than average police presence for that game so the 3,200 figure being banded about seems to be unlikely given that the policing will be even more for this game.

This post is bull, lock it, it makes us look like a joke. Why would we send tickets back two weeks in advance and not give more people the chance to get one. the op is a skate, or a saddo

This may all be a crock of sh*t but it wouldn't surprise me if the OB have instructed the club to halt ticket sales on the grounds of needing to know how many buses will be travelling and fine tuning their military operation into the portsea island warzone.

One other thing on capacity of that stand, if it is unreserved seating as some have suggested, then so many seats are always left empty (like at the back at Brizzol) and the full capacity wouldn't be reached anyway. And then there's the inevitable segregation.

But Saints set the criteria, if they really wanted to shift the tickets they could. I wouldn't imagine they're making that much money off the busses, and have probably decided it's not worth attempting to sell the last few hundred tickets as it would require ANOTHER ballot, which means more people phoning and emailing constantly asking what's going on. Just don't think it's worth their while.

Back on topic (sort of) - Has anyone who applied on the 2nd ballot (not linked to someone from the first ballot) actually heard anything yet? I takes me bloody ages to travel to Southampton and need to know if I have to do it to pick up my coach ticket sooner rather than later. If I do have to travel down, I would like to see the Blackpool game on the same day. The ticket office have really made a meal of this process.

Posted

My guess is that tickets have been returned its because police advised the club only to sell season ticket holders,or something along those lines, would have easily sold if on general sale to database.

Posted

If this is true, and the skate fans also seem to think we have returned 400 tickets, then its a joke. Why can saints not just put them on general sale? Why the big smokescreen on the number of tickets available? It really doesnt make any sense. If the 3200 has been reduced to say 2800 for safety or netting reasons then fair enough, but there's no reason that information can't be published.

The wider issue of ticketing has been raised before and needs sorting out. The online system is a joke and even penniless clubs like watford have a decent system, why can't we do the same? Surely its in the clubs best interests to make tickets as available to everyone as possible rather than making you jump through hoops. OK, the pigs deemed the restrictions for this game necessary but even buying tickets for other games is a nonsense. Away ticket details are difficult to find and the last game was a prime example of the incompetence in the ticket office, who said anyone wanting to go to Doncaster had to collect their ticket from SMS.. what if you live in Doncaster and cannot make home games? How can the £3 charge not cover recorded delivery?

I also don't understand with all the extra nonsense with the pompey game why the booking fee was reduced to £1.50 when they obviously have a lot more work to do than for other fixtures. Doesn't make any sense to me

At times the customer service from Saints has been extremely poor when it really doesn't need to be
