Are we getting the best out of Jack Cork

As it says on the label, I always thought that he was a fairly offensive player but we seem to be hell bent on using him as the deepest of the 3 and then subbing him at half-time. What's that all about then.Mind you with 1 for Deano,1 for Morgan and 0 for Cork we're not exactly getting many goals out of our midfield at all.

You do realise that Chaplow, Lallana and even Guly for most of the season count as the midfield, right? As well as Holmes and De Ridder who have both scored this season.

Anyway, i've never thought of Cork as a more offensive player. I've seen him as an all round, box to box midfielder who is slightly better defensively - when he played for us on loan he mostly played at CB and we all raved about him.

Totally agree..

NA has got to sort this out now....especially away from home.. the three in the middle, does not work in the way it has been going....

Two from three and Cork, as stated , the box to box player in the middle.

You are the coach Windows....give us a clue why?

With Blackpool and then Pompey coming up...NA to return the set up as before or has everyone sussed us out as too one dimensional?

well I think your statement is a little off there.

Adkins does rotate the squad - doesn't he?... No outfield player has played in every league game...and Jack Cork has made 19 starts so far this season ...and been

subbed only 5 times. One of those was v. Watford when Holmes came on and scored in the last 5 mins.

Once was at Cardiff where we lost, though he did indeed come off v. Hull when it was stalemate at 0-0 HT and NA admitted he wanted to change the pattern.

I thought he was a defender / or at least defensive-minded midfielder when we bought him? ...You may argue that he hasn't been playing well...? but I don't think

he has fallen out-of-favour with NA ?.... but he certainly hasn't been subbed as much as you seemed to suggest.

Guly, on the other hand has made 22 starts...and has been subbed on 18 occasions !

I don't think that NA is disatisfied with him as our second-highest scorer either...but he is around 30 and really doesn't need to play 95 mins. every game,

he obviously tires a bit and has often been sensibly subbed by a more offensive player like ...Chaplow or De Ridder.

It's a squad game, and I think that there are several others who may have been subbed. as much as /or even more than Cork.

I always thought of him as a defensive midfielder TBF, thats what he was at chelsea, thats what he was at Burnley and even in his time here back then he was a defender/RB/Midfielder.

He is decent there, he is just going through a bit of a difficult patch IMO, I am not sure Hammond is his natural partner, he has been on form recently but IMHO is not the player we need there as techically he is not good enough (Hammond that is). Partner him with a more technical midfielder and he will be fine.

Always seems to be a desperate call for changes in selection, tactics or new signings whenever form dips. But for the team and players individually, form is going to be up and down over a 46 game season isn't it. Can't win every week. You see a lot of teams ditching good players because of dips in form or short term results going badly. It doesn't get you anywhere long term. Cork for one is a very good player and one I hope stays for a long time. He's not good enough to dominate every week though, so he will have off games.

Quite right adrians,

It's his first real chance to play in a good team (well, we are top of this league)... for any extended period of time, and it's really unfair to judge someone on

barely two dozen games. Hopefully he will improve with time, and certainly seems to be the type of player who would do well for us in the Prem.

Cork is a class act. His engine is unbelievable. He is so good at winning that second ball and you very rarely see him give away possession. Does the simple things so well. I personally think he's up there with our best performers this year. He's never been a goal threat though - 5 goals in 170 odd professional games.
