Any news on the likely inclusion of the Goal Machine taking us to The Premier League?

Just want Holloway to get tonked again and restore our goalscoring prowess - I notice nothing was said that Doncaster are only the 2nd team to stop us scoring this season what does that say? Either we are toothless and clueless without Rickie or we lack natural goal scorers without the space he creates?

there is of course a third option:

Bristol City and Doncaster both had better than average keepers.Didn't that happen to us at Walsall last year? not that he was above average he just got exceptionally lucky.

At least 2 pretty decent saves at least from Ikeme on Saturday and the old pompey reject wasn't too dusty either.I bet if donny had had their habitual hack we'd have scored at least 2.

Looking forward to this one. If we are winning and the fans start chanting "Championship your having a laugh" then that will be fecking epic!

What is worrying me right now though is that we have gone from slick passing into a punt it up field team. We need to stop doing that. Need to get back to passing it around and looking for spaces.

I would go with

---------------Davis-----------------

Fraizer---Fonte---Jos-----Fox

--------Hammond----Cork---------

De Ridder----------------------Lallana

--------Guly/Connoly-----Lambert----------

Last few games having Morgan out on the wing has ruined our width, like-wise i don't think having Guly works there either. It is time to let De-Ridder have his time there from the start and if he can't do it then we need to bring in someone in January who can. De Ridder needs to start taking his chances or he will just end up another DMG type player imo. Can run when he wants to and in one game will do something decent, the problem is that you have to wait another 8 games before he will do it again.

De Ridder started last Saturday's game if I remember rightly, surely he was supposed to be wide right, Morgan wasn't on the wing,he was at the tip of the diamond behind Guly. If MS was on the wing at any time then I'd guess it was because SDR wasn't where he was supposed to be.

Any two from three Hammond/Cork/Schneiderlin please don't play all three. If Lambert isn't fit give Barnard a go from the start, subject to that give De Ridder a start but only wide right then give it a go. Everybody else in their normal positions and get back to playing as in the first 17 games.

If Connolly is fit I would start him with Lambert and move Guly back wide right for now.

+1. Lets go back to the formation we started the season with and see if we can re-find the quick 1 touch pass & move stuff we were playing before.

Fox has impressed me since joining, but his last 2 games he was awful, whilst I thought Harding was pretty decent against Hull, so I'd give him another go.

Davis

Richardson - Fonte - Jos - Harding

Guly - Hammond - Cork - Lallana

Lambert - Connolly

If Connolly isn't fit, then start Barnard up front.

Blackpool will play an open game and it will suit us. They will also miss Shelvey who was the catalyst for their recent upsurge of form. They are dangerous but I feel confident as long as Lambert is back and we don't get anxious if things aren't going our way.

Is Shelvey out??

If you check the interview with NA on SaintsPlayer, Adkins said he told De Ridder to play "up front" as striker alongside Guly. Morgan was told to play RM. What happened was that they interchanged, and it was Morgan that went through on goal (as a striker) one on one vs the goalkeeper.

I'd keep De Ridder as supersub, play Lallana as RM, Holmes as LM and tell him to get outside the defender with his crosses. In the 2nd half, bring De Ridder on as RM and Lala can go back to LM. It will confuse the opposition, and likely many of our team/fans. :)

So all of the hand wringing and hair wrenching that I read about Guly being on his own up front was a load of bowleaux then,it's just that De Ridder is all that good at doing as he's told I guess.

That was for the start of the 2nd half. The chance for Morgan was in the 1st when he was playing off Guly.

Those are the lessons that I think NA should have learned by now - totally agree with your post...

Morgan was definitely playing up front at in the first half.

so the question remains where was De Ridder cos he didn't seem to be out on the right either.I noticed that on 2 occasions

Lallana (on the right of centre MF if you see what I mean) had wide right options open to him,Schneiderlin once, De Ridder once, he refused the option both times and tried to run the ball into a packed area so what's the point of "width" if you don't use it.

Apart from the absence of Lambert, the most telling difference from the start of the season, is Lallana's form. Apart from the cross for the first goal v. Hull, he has been poor in each of the last 3. He seems to have lost a yard of pace since his injury and as you state, seems reluctant to pass to people in a better position. Having gone for the un-predictable move, he has wasted it on numerous occasions.

Do you not know that any negative comments about Lallana on this forum are strictly prohibited and you could get sent to

Mongolia for even hinting at an even temporary loss of godlike status??:scared:

To me Lallana is a big part of the problem, I wouldn't even be surprised if someone was to whisper in my ear that he was chusing where he wants to play and who he wants around him.

I've looked at the EHs again and note that on the Morgan attempt SDR was at least 15 yards behind the play and puffing like a turkey to catch up,seems not to read the game very well,no doubt that's what NA and the coaches are currently working on.

It's a fact that Adam Lallana doesn't like playing in front of Dickson and last season preferred Harding. Dickson has now been frozen out even though he can play forward. I do undersatand though that after bringing in Fox he is third choice anyway.

Lallana has been poor since he's come back....BUT who is is there that would be able to go his job ? A 70% Lallana is probably more effective than a 100% Holmes. Did we bring him back? Probably....but I think in the last few games we've had too many players underperforming. We're going to have a blip this season, lets just try and make that blip as short as possibly, hopefully ending on Saturday.

Completely agree with the 2 from 3, also gives fresh impetus when 3 comes on as sub. If Lambert is fit we just go back to normal and hope everything is ok. not am not so sure about Barnard. Adkins should know from the training ground if Barnard is up to it and if not I would be very tempted to play Fonte at CF. Keep De Ridder for the impact and shore up the right or left with one of the additional full backs.

I fully accept the notion of Fonte at CF may well be silly, but we were so toothless against a Doncaster side still favourite to finish bottom, that I fell that the position is desperate enough. Fonte will win you ball up front and be a threat from crosses such we can exert some pressure.

Is this actually fact and do you know this for certain? I can definitely see us without Chappers but was under the impression Lambert might be back.

100% FACT. Saw the above mentioned with Dan Harding in County arms in Winchester tonight. Chappers has "2 weeks left" and RL's response was "no mate" when I asked them if they were fit for saturday

Why didn't you call me? I could have met you and your friends for a swift one.

I don't have your number. They were all nice gents, down to earth and very approachable, Rickie even bought me a drink. I did say that if they were injured I'd have to bring my boots down on saturday and I might get a game, to which Chappers replied "well you can't be as bad as Tommy Forecast mate!"

Just found out that Al Jism are showing it out here (Al Jazeera for the uninitiated) so I'll be down teh pub watching it - Goodfellas in The Ramsee Rose Hotel Al Barsha - for anybody out here on hols.

This also means that there should be a good chance that there will be a dodgy streaming available for those who cant watch it on Satellite / TV.

Not sure how well repped The Dubai Massive will be as Dubai Phil is probably going to be pouncing around with Golf Players whilst us hard core will be slummung it out down teh pub!!

Please please let us win and in some style to show the world we are Southampton and we're top of the league - on merit.

Not liking all these SRL reports though.
