Turkish Posted 3 December, 2011 Share Posted 3 December, 2011 Who used to be a member during the 80's and 90's? Great little club that was. Did a few away trips with them. Remember going to Villa Park when MLT rang rings round Paul MCGrath and playing 5 a side before matches. A free ticket on your birthday in the bench area in the east stand and I've still got a signed birthday card and membership certificate signed by MLT and Chris Nicholl. A mate from school was junior Saint of he month once and when we for back in touch years later he has become an Arsenal fan.
Um Bongo Posted 3 December, 2011 Share Posted 3 December, 2011 Oh yes. I remember I won a competition in the Echo which the junior saints ran, spot the mascot or something. Got a tour around the ground and met a player, can't remember who.

Giamlarrahan Posted 3 December, 2011 Share Posted 3 December, 2011 I was a mascot through junior saints against Newcastle in the year 2000. I went on a stadium tour of st mary's years later to find my photo up in the boardroom, leading the team out alongside Doddy and Shearer. Couldn't get hold of the photo for years, but turns out my aunty had a copy, who's friend gave it to Doddy to sign, who then took it to Newcastle with him to get Shearer to sign it too. I got it on my 18th birthday 9 years later. Top day.

Norm Posted 4 December, 2011 Share Posted 4 December, 2011 I was a sponsor with Junior Saints when we were at the Dell and for the first 4 years at SMS. I enjoyed my connection with the club greatly. The staff in Community were always very helpful.
LGTL Posted 4 December, 2011 Share Posted 4 December, 2011 I remember winning "pop up pirates" in the seat draw. The mascot would come around and hold up a board with your seat number on! I also remmeber getting a letter warning the Junior Saints section about all the abuse we were dishing out! Started young back in those days obviously. the wedge Posted 5 December, 2011 Share Posted 5 December, 2011 I still have my membership card from about 1996/7. Won a comp through sponsors Woolwich Building Society for a free ticket to see us draw 3-3 against Middlesbrough at the Dell. Got a mention in the programme. Made my life as a kid. Always thoroughly enjoyed the signed birthday cards from your favourite player. Shipps and Matty Oakley if I remember rightly. Happy days.

I remember this, didn't it also have detachable straps, one red and one blue?! Junior Saints was great though, and the reason why I was able to be mascot twice, some great away trips too. This Charming Man Posted 5 December, 2011 Share Posted 5 December, 2011 I've got about 4 birthday cards from the Junior Saints somewhere. Everyone of them signed by MLT...
Sour Mash Posted 5 December, 2011 Share Posted 5 December, 2011 Think my first birthday card from them was signed by Gordon Hobson! Eileen Painter and Alan Smith used to run a tight ship, no f******g about. Although I also remember the letter about checking stuff at players, think I remember there being a police camera man at the next game, but might have just imagined that! JRM Posted 5 December, 2011 Share Posted 5 December, 2011 I've got about 4 birthday cards from the Junior Saints somewhere. Everyone of them signed by MLT... my first one was David Armstrong i think mate, i remember in the late 80s going into the junior saints office in the car park on the west stand, used to get a programme and a crunchie in there, good for the little kids, but we used to have some complete dweebs hanging around there, most of them seem to have grown up in a similar vein and now post on here

I always knew you couldn't spot a decent player. You probably think Harding is better than Fox as well.
