dubai_phil Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Good lad. http://twitter.com/#!/stief87 @AndrewH_1990: @stief87 what do you want for Christmas?” a winning goal against pompey stief87 Steve De Ridder “@jackcork1: @stief87 is it true goldmember from Austin powers is your brother?” yes, twin brother stief87 Steve De Ridder “@ScottIrwin94: @stief87 what made you want to come to southampton over other clubs?” the adventure, english football, the atmosphere...etc And many more. Now if he only gets a regular start he could become a true legend. But great to see some of the banter

hypochondriac Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Twitter has really helped with team spirit among the players. Used in the right way, it can really be an asset helping the fans connect with the players and vice versa too.

ant Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 It has helped the fans get a glimpse of the team spirit though.
Made in Southampton Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 It's helped those fans that understand twitter. I haven't got a clue how to use it and I'm no technophobe. Too many @# and stuff.
dune Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Good to see they have some banter - and can take it. It's a pity the majority on here can't.
Saintandy666 Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Good to see they have some banter - and can take it. It's a pity the majority on here can't. But on this, Steve de Ridder seems like a nice bloke and a laugh... and he's not too bad on the pitch either!
swannymere Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Great idea, not much effort required and the fans feel involved, well done Schteve

Likewise - I initially found it impenetrable even though I work with the web and have used a lot of social media platforms. If you're interested in Twitter I'd urge you to give it a go and see whether you can get past that though. Drop me a PM if you like and I can write up a short, explicit guide on what you actually need to know to get involved. There's surprisingly little to it. hypochondriac Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Rubbish. How do you know its helped? You don't. It is demonstrating the team spirit, helping the players connect with the fans and each other and it appears that they are continuing with jokes from offline online which SEEMS to be helping the team spirit. Why respond in such an aggressive manner?
Deano6 Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 “@CWillis7: @stief87 Who takes the longest in the shower? #SoccerAM” @joshooiveld20 Way to mess up a joke! Hope he answered it as intended. “@sridout92: @stief87 3rd time lucky? Answer! When you struck your goal against reading did you think it was over?”no What does that mean? There wasn't any doubt about it being over the line was there? I thought he smashed it in to the net off the bar. Or does it mean did he think the game was over despite there being 10 mins left? Strange question. “@DeeryJack: @stief87 do you like your Chant from the crowd?” yes “@SammyJ82: @stief87 do you find the steeeeeeve chant annoying?” no Hopefully that will finally stop those claiming he doesn't like it (as opposed to thinking it's overused). my number was always 11, but that was chambo's number at the time, so I wanted a plural from 11 On why he chose number 33. Pilchards Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Does anyone think it's an idea to have a Twitter/Facebook stickey on what the players are saying? My timeline often only goes back an hour as I view it twice a day so I miss out on what's being said most of the time. Well?
DanW Posted 2 December, 2011 Share Posted 2 December, 2011 Hopefully that will finally stop those claiming he doesn't like it (as opposed to thinking it's overused). Yeah, he said a while ago on twitter he really likes the chant but he doesn't want it to be every time he touches the ball. Chaplow replied "which is hardly ever!" dubai_phil Posted 2 December, 2011 Author Share Posted 2 December, 2011 OK so wow, I can still feel my fingers after a day at the rugby. Awesome. Guys - I don't "get" Twitter either. I have tweeted a total of 15 times in my life and three of those were competitions. Yet I have more weirdos following me than I have tweeted. Anyway the whole Social Media thing is interesting as long as you are sensible and follow only peeps you are interested in (eg Ian Poulter tweets about a zillion times a day which really fooks up your home page!) But it takes nothing to sign up and simply identify people or players from links on here or the search facility. Just avoid too many YAY we're getting bladdered/laid/smashing up poopey type posts and it's fine. Do too many of the former and one day some future employer GF/The wife etc may find it!
