Saint-Armstrong Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 "Arsenal city tonight - then 11.45pm train to Southampton to get this josi deal wrapped up." - Carl Thomas, SEG Agency - representatives of Jos Hooiveld. http://twitter.com/#!/CarllthomasSEG
the saint in winchester Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 I hope this is the case ... but at the risk of being pedantic, there is no 11:45pm train out of Waterloo tonight. There is one at 00:05, gets into SOT at 01:38, but hey, who will be around at that time to sign contracts???

itchen_dan Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 Very good!! Has been brilliant and been better than Fonte the majority of the time. He would be more than good enough IMO to make the step up with us if we make it.

I suppose they could announce their intention to make the deal permanent, how did we do it with Chaplow last year, don't think it was officially announced until after the window re-opened. With the paperwork and formalities sorted when the window re-opens. Didn't we announce the Chaplow deal before the January window had opened? Anyway, good news. Solid player and chipped in with a few goals too - lest I say he can even make the step up well should we get there, but if not, he'll continue to be a top nPC defender. Surprises me that Celtic were so impatient to give him a chance.

Just can't see us officially announcing this before 31 Dec or 1st Jan.

If Saints, Celtic and Jos all agree. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15844449.stm

I think it's different when a player is already on loan with you,you just can't go public and broadcast a forthcoming deal even if it's common knowledge. You don't own a player until you have paid his transfer fee and that cannot happen until the paperwork is approved,so you say nothing and for saying nowt about owt SFC are the reigning world champions. English is ambiguous but I suspect what he wants to say is that he'll get the 22.35 from Waterloo which arrives in Soton at around 23.45. Should just about be able to catch all the game at the emirates that way. Words in somebody else's mouth. Never.
the saint in winchester Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 I like the explanation that he is getting a late train out of London tonight (at whatever time) to broker a deal in the morning (at whatever time). Said deal to be announced (at whatever time, on whatever day.) Just don't break a leg tonight, Jos, that would complicate the deal.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 There is an 11.47pm train from Clapham Jcn (which is outer London) to Southampton tonight. Could be this? Whatever his travel arrangements, it's promising news that Jos could soon be a permanent Saint. Fingers crossed!
Norm Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 Not connected to Jos' signing but a little gossip from a pal at SMS is that the lad from Coventry is coming. Jan deal. Also a Far Eastern player (Japanese he thinks) shown around club. Could be just gossip but he has been correct in the past. (Ducks below parapet) Would kind of explain Jutkiewicz's comment regarding speculation when asked about the move, which was pretty non-commital about staying at Cov. Interesting stuff. Hopefully, we'll get some good news about Jos today too.
Colinjb Posted 30 November, 2011 Share Posted 30 November, 2011 Didn't we announce the Chaplow deal before the January window had opened? If I remember correctly that news was leaked at a Preston North End fans forum around late November where the chairman stated that Chaplow's transfer had already been agreed. Although it wasn't officially confirmed until just before the window opened.

stu0x Posted 30 November, 2011 Share Posted 30 November, 2011 don't think so because that would make a mockery of the transfer window wouldn't it No it wouldn't. You can sign a deal whenever you want - the player just can't actually transfer to and play for the new club until the window is open. In a case like this, where the player is already at the new club on loan, it makes no physical difference - it just means that his registration will legally transfer from Celtic to Saints on the 1st of Jan. I doubt that NA would be wandering around with a potential new recruit before the match and even less likely that they would have photos taken so publicly. sussexsaint Posted 1 December, 2011 Share Posted 1 December, 2011 I hope we get several signings in January that I am initially disappointed about as they usually turn out to be better acquisitions than the ones I celebrate ( Skacel, Delap, Prutton, Bernard etc etc)
