It's doesn't f*cking matter what QPR need. It doesn't f*cking matter that Chelsea only got 13k in 1982. It doesn't f*cking matter that Wolves might. Maybe. One day. Possibly. It has been my life long ambition to be a credible poster on an anoynomous internet forum. I dont deny i said that, i said it about this time last year when we were bloody awful and i said it again February after witnessing a defeat in a lame midweek away performance devoid of ideas, creativity and spirit against a team with the 2nd worst home record in the country at that time. Promotion looked a mile off and i was glad to be wrong as we went onto win 13 of our next 14 games on an incredible run which no one saw coming and as it turned out was needed given the form of Huddersfield. So sneer if you want that i wasnt confident of us going on the best winning run in history after losing at the team second bottom. Did you drive to Wallsall that night? Or were you sitting at home behind your keyboard dreaming of the champions league. the 5 year plan. Beating AC Milan and Real Madrid with our team full of academy graduates. Our massively expanded stadium. Winning the league and proving that you dont need to spend £300m to do it, you just need a good academy. When is your sense of reality going to catch up with your physical age? If i didn't know better i'd guess you were a head in the clouds dreamer about 12. Dr Who? Posted 28 November, 2011 Share Posted 28 November, 2011 I remember when all these teams were building 'Premier League' stadiums or 'top flight' stadiums, and all you used to hear was they have the stadium for the Premier League/top flight. You mainly heard this about Wolves in there never ending quest to try and get to the top, and yes they now have a 'Premier League Stadium. It really does not matter, it is a little bit like the fast/sports car car syndrome, and play ground banter, we have a bigger stadium than you! I think that we should do it though, just shows the ambition, and we get to use it for other events as well. You know what I heard it tonight, Charlton have a great set up, and a wonderful stadium that is fitting for the top flight....I think the top flight would have a few to many clubs in it!! The sad thing is the Valley was pretty empty for a team that have just gone 7 points clear in league one.

The9 Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 The only redeeming thing about this thread is the picture of the Pompey Urinal. Can we get a song sorted for all their non-existent ground plans? Something like "I went down to Gunwharf And this is what they said You won't find a ground here mate I think you're off your head. " "I went down to Farlington...." "I tried to turn the pitch around... " And finishwith "I went down to Fratton And this is what they said You won't find a ground here mate Cos Pompey's fuc-king dead" Then maybe "One Team in Hampshire ". I await your criticisms with vague disinterest. All my own work, 5am.

What a shame that you're so far away from realising that ambition. Never mind though, you're way ahead in the better fan stakes, as you went to Walsall that night, whereas I, with a family life, only mainly attend home matches as a long time ST holder. Yes, I do dream of better things for my club. Heck, they're already much better than they were a year ago when you were so pessimistic about us. Quite what a sense of reality has to do with age, I don't know. Your sense of reality was way wide of the mark last year and how old are you? I can imagine the tirade of juvenile abuse I would have got from you then, had I forecast that we would not only be in the second division next year, but also clear at the top at the end of November. But then this illustrates nicely why you have a long way to go to achieve your ambition to be a credible poster.

THat's got me, i dont know how i'll ever recover from such an attack. Of course i am sure Westender can point to a whole host of middle sized clubs, similar in size to Saints that can give us optimism that its possible for a club of Saints size to keep hold of their star young players and build a champions league side around them. What's your problem with it? I just can't understand how anyone can be so inflamed in opposition to this. You haven't got money staked against it in Ladbrokes or something? Or is it that you just like the trolling? Because unless i am much mistaken an English club of Saints size has NEVER qualified for the champions league with a team full of acdemy graduates. There are a whole host of clubs of similar size to Saints who have consitantly failed to keep their star kids from the clutches of big clubs. Because there is no evidence to suggest Saints have ever needed a ground bigger than 32,000. Because at the moment we are in the Championship and just come out of league one. Because whatever Wolves, Fulham, Chelsea, QPR, Barcelona, Paris St Germain, Sport Lisbon, Visla Krakov, Boca Juniors and River Plate do is not evidence Saints need or can fill a 44k stadium. Because people are talking about being back in the premier league like it's a give. Guess what? It aint. Because until we are back in the premier league and selling out week in week out and turning away thousands of fans week in week out having weekly discussions about filling a 44k stadium is utterly pointless. We aren't even filling a 32k stadium week in week at the moment FFS.

Manchester City were in the third tier for two seasons as a result of appalling management. They were no more a third tier club than we were yet the way you write it suggests some kind of transformation from a tiny club to the Premiership challengers. Citeh have a massive and committed fanbase, even in the third tier. And the suggestion that Manchester United were playing in the Champions League with their academy site is ludicrous. They brought through five players, which is exceptional (so exceptional in fact that no British club that I'm aware of has done it since at that level), to play alongside the likes of Cantona, Keane, Sheringham, Stam, Schmeichel, Yorke, Cole, Kanchelskis, etc. And they were already an established site in the European competitions and one of, if not the, biggest side in the country. Turkish, you seem more passionately opposed to this concept than any of it's advocates seem to be in support. What's your problem with it? I just can't understand how anyone can be so inflamed in opposition to this. You haven't got money staked against it in Ladbrokes or something? Or is it that you just like the trolling? At a guess, I'd say it's a frustration that this delusion [of us being able to fill out a much larger ground on a regular enough basis to justify the expense] gets trotted out with alarming frequency on here with arguments like 'don't forget, Manchester United did it'... Charlie Wayman Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 Not 45000? Good round number, 44000 is far too specific a number to have any meaning. Oh well, as has always been observed many many times, it isn't size that matters it's the noise they make!
Joensuu Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 Because unless i am much mistaken an English club of Saints size has NEVER qualified for the champions league with a team full of acdemy graduates. Which is all perfectly sensible. But my question was, why are you so impassioned about it? Turkish Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 (edited) [/b] Hi Turkish, ..not wishing to get involved in ..what promises to be .. a very interesting word-battle between you and Wes Tender but...its only a little over 10 years ago that ....Manchester City were playing in League 1 (third tier) ...and of course on your other point...Manchester United did this back in the 1990's with THEIR Academy side ..incl. Beckham, the Neville brothers, Butt, Scholes, Giggs ...(so even that has been done before). funny old game -isn't it ? F'ckin hell fella, Manchester United!!! The biggest club in the world who had an academey which included 3 of the worlds best players at the time and many other full of internationals. That's it then, i'm convinced, if Man United can do it why cant we?!! Edited 29 November, 2011 by Turkish

Joensuu Posted 29 November, 2011 Share Posted 29 November, 2011 Jam summed it up. THe delusion in our fanbase is unreal, summed up by Dave in Swedens post. Man United did it FFS!!! So you're not opposed to an expansion per se, but instead you are opposed to anyone who is 'deluded' enough to suggest that over the next few years an expansion might not be out of the question. Do you feel embarrassed by fans who are suggesting that an expansion isn't completely outside the realms of possibility? If not, why don't you just let them get on with it - it simply shouldn't bother you. If however you are embarrassed, you seriously need to get out more. There are far greater embarrassments associated with this club. In future, just a tip, if you want the '44k expansion' threads to disapear, simply stop feeding them with your irrational hatred. If you weren't fueling a debate the thread would die a natural death. The more you try to shout everyone down, the more people will argue back. If indeed your anger of this issue is genuine, your best way to put out the flames would be to ignore them. If this topic doesn't interest you, or mildly annoys you, simply stop posting on it. Honestly, the more you try to keep topics like this alive the more people will assume you are simply trolling. [Last post of the day]
