Anyone else got one of these heaps of ****?

I'm living in a student house, and it worked out only £6 each a month to get Virgins top of the range 50mb broadband. That's all well and good, but using it wireless with the "super" hub we are using is a ****ing nightmare. I live in the room above the living room where the super hub lives. If I do a speed test in the living room on my laptop using Wi-fi, I get 30mb/s. Sometimes even 40. Go to my room (the room above the superhub room, remember). And I am lucky to get 1mb/s. ONE. Same laptop. My pc is even WORSE.

Anyone had similar troubles and have some advice for me? Maybe the PCI wifi card I put in my PC is a bag of ****, I don't know. It reports 4 or 5 bars of signal most of the time though. So all that speed is being ****ed into oblivion as far as I can tell. ITS SO FRUSTRATING!

Try turning it on its side and seeing if that increases the signal strength. It may be that its coverage is concentrated outwards to the sides rather than vertically.

Thanks Al de Man. Think I've solved the problem partially. Set it up in "modem mode" and have got it routed through another (d-link) router I had going spare. Not getting the speed I would like, but its not causing my blood pressure to shoot up either!

We had the same problem with the superhub.works fine now as only the daughters laptop and iPod use the wireless. I ended up wiring cat 5 to the desktop pc Xbox and blueray. Anything other than surfing the net is crap on this hub
