Hatch Posted 30 October, 2008 Share Posted 30 October, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/other_international/australia/latest_scorecard/default.stm India declare on 600+ for 7. 2 players get double hundreds. Maybe the Aussie bowling attack has crumbled now without McGrath and Warney.

bungle Posted 30 October, 2008 Share Posted 30 October, 2008 I can't see England doing well in India. Especially seeing as we have had to waste time and energy going and playing in this crap thing out in the West Indies.
saint1977 Posted 30 October, 2008 Share Posted 30 October, 2008 I can't see England doing well in India. Especially seeing as we have had to waste time and energy going and playing in this crap thing out in the West Indies. India have prepared flat pitches and this Delhi surface is already starting to take turn at the end of day two. England should pack the side with batters and spinners (Patel and Swann as well as Monty as they can both bat well) if India are going to revert to their old tactics. Harmy and Freddie should have the new ball and pepper their batters with short stuff in short, violent 4 over bursts, give them nothing to drive unless they want to risk a hook shot or dig out a yorker. The medium pace part-timers like Colly can fill in for a few overs and bowl leg-side and bore Tendulkar out. It's a shame, India's away form has been quite good since they started preparing varied wickets at home but the dustbowls have come out for Australia and England. This pitch is so awful it won't even take reverse swing. Bore the crap out of India and get a 0-0 draw, it serves them right.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was a deliberate ploy to make the Twenty20 look more appealing. After all, that's where the big money is in Indian Cricket now. If test matches are that dull, they'll be able to argue to cut one or two matches out of a series in favour of a couple more 20 over matches in a tour. AndyNorthernSaints Posted 31 October, 2008 Share Posted 31 October, 2008 Aussie's bowling attack looks very poor without any proper spinners. I don't think England batsmen will be very worried about facing White and Katich spin next summer although their seam attack will still be good in english conditions. No wonder there were rumours of Warne coming out of retirement.
