trousers Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 I guess, in hindsight, the flag would have stood more chance of being used regularly had it been less 'overt' in the message it was conveying....say, just the SFC badge with "W.I.F.M" underneath, or such like. But that doesn't detract from the sterling effort that Mike put in to make it happen. Indeed, the more I think about it the more the annual appearance of the flag seems like a much more special gesture to Markus and the family, even though that wasn't the original intention. trousers Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 Mike - out of curiosity, did Jordan give the impression (directly or indirectly) that Cortese actually liked the concept of a large flag being used by fans before each home game? (in general, not specifically the Markus flag idea)
Colinjb Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 Totally understandable from the families point of view. Hopefully this is at least a sign that family members are attending the games! WIFM.
hamster Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 On closer study, Markus' waving arm is not a million miles away from the original Ted statue one.
Dig Dig Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 That's what I think too but I was waiting for someone else to say it because I would have been shouted down. You are so spineless. It's sickening.

Huffton Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 I don't see what there is to argue about, Mike, and everyone who contributed, did a fantastic job to get it organised but the Liebherr family have asked that it is only used for the memorial game, their wishes should be respected. Dellman Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 It's perfect for the Memorial game and that is a good clear decision
Singeon Sears Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 Completey agree with keeping it for the memorial game - keeps it special as it should be. Taking it to away games sounds completely inappropriate
latter day saint Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 fully respect the family's wishes but im still disappointed in the outcome. after all the effort put into it by Mike & others it seems a shame just to see it once year, even though the memorial game is a fitting occasion. maybe the club could make a gesture of goodwill & donate the equivalent raised by fans to fund another flag that can be used? don't think will happen though
