Pompey Away - divided families

Amesbury Saint

It seems the crowd wasn't ready for such a controversial question. Try again in 20 years or so...

It would take many, many instances of this type of story being covered in a soap opera and lots of 'pride' parades before it becomes something that you can discuss in the open.

My brother-in-law will be in the home end with his cousin. My nephew - his son - has a season ticket at St Marys along with me and my father. We're not taking to Fratton Park for this game though - although he's been there a few times with his Dad.

My brother, born in Fratton. Dirty fish ****ing skate bastard, married a Saint bird though so I guess he's trying to better himself.

Love it! Just goes to show that although he is your brother you are prepared to speak the truth in the name of Saints! Let's hope you and his wife can bring him in to the real world. Perhaps recent developments will help too?

Living in Locks Heath, there are a lot of cases of this type of thing. The mrs isn't really into football but her old man and his 4 brothers are all skates. Would be so sweet to smash them at their place after all the sh*t I got after the last game

My late grandad actually supported by saints and portsmouth. in his younger years he would go to both the dell and fratton park. he lived in sarisbury green so i guess he felt in the middle of the divide. i live in portchester myself but was born and bred in southampton so obviously support saints. my mrs and family are from portsmouth and "support" portsmouth. when I say support i mean they watched the fa cup final. it will be paradise if we beat them next month but hell on earth if we lose. i will go in to hiding until april if that happens lol

Grandad was red and white, but was based in Pompey during the war, and set up home there. Hence whole family became skate lovers. I was born 76, apparently sat with Grandad whole of the final glued to TV. First opportunity to get me up the dell, we were there. He got me my first season ticket 83-84 season, wallace, worthington, moran etc etc. Probably the greatest team ever. No looking back. I guess i'm the black sheep of the family, looking forward to spending all that sunday afternoon, looking very smug!!!!

Oldest son and me with the saints fans. Youngest son and wife in the Fratton End with the blue few!

Anyone else got a divided family on 18th Dec?

I could not live with this. I know some people are feigning outrage on this thread but honestly, if my skate wife (just about acceptable if shes from Pompey and not really in to her football) ever tried brain washing a kid of mine in to supporting them it probably would be grounds for divorce. I just couldn't bear watching my flesh and blood running around in a Pompey shirt. Probably sounds harsh but football is such a big part of my life and I can't wait until the day I can take my son(s) down to SMS. I genuinely think I would love my child less if they decided to support them.

I pulled a girl in town a couple of years ago, and then was distraught to see that she removed her cardigan later in the night and was wearing a Skates top. My mates were all taking the **** out of me. Unfortunately she had an accident later in the night and was found at the bottom of a flight of steps, my mates still think it was me who pushed her!

Surely the OP has to explain himself.....please can he they enlighten us as to how his young son ended up being a skate. How the hell has the wife got her way and turned him into one of the few.

Would have liked to be a fly on the wall when that conversation took place, assuming there was one !!!!

wife comes from Wymering but has been "turned" to the force during 28 years of marriage, big skate family which other than Weddings and Funerals i do not see, my 2 sons 23 and 16 have NOTHING to do with their cousins.

Good thing is other than one or two the only time they have got involved with football was to be part of the 500 million on Southsea Common

Skate Ba*tards

Mate of mine did the same only it got a bit Ahem further - he got some great photos of said young lady wearing a Saints shirt in what some would call uncompromising positions!

All dad's side of family are from Portsmouth, so are skates. I was saved from the blue few by being fostered in Winchester and taken down the Dell by my step brother's brother in law. Down there tomorrow actually so will thoroughly clean myself when I get back home.

Dude, if I was you I would tell oldest-nipper that his younger sibling and his mam are just plain wrong. Misguided.

Keep the son-the-elder close to your heart, and never give up on son-the-younger. There are stories of prodigal sons returning to the true light, just pray that the the younger gets to see this light.

As for the missus. Well for God's sake man. If she is sheltering under your roof, then she damn well does what you say. And that is swear to the Red and White.

Did you not vet this bint before poking her? Crying out loud. Now she's got one of your nippers turned agin you.
