Looking back Mick Channon was my idol and still is but at the time didnt really have a problem him moving down the league to the skates, I know he did this for bally but was the rivalry and media attention as bad then dont think so, in his autobiography he states the venom was always from the blue side the red side couldnt really be bothered. Loved the time he notched his hat trick against them on match of the day

What a star well done Mick top man, saint to this day

Niemi is still on the books I believe...

Scratch that, he left without making a single appearance.

From Wikipedia:

Portsmouth

Despite announcing his retirement from the game the previous year it was confirmed on 28 July 2009 that Antti Niemi was in talks with Portsmouth.[4] On 7 August, Niemi confirmed he had signed for Portsmouth on a one year deal as backup to David James and to work with the goalkeeping coaches.[5] On 24 March 2010, he was released from his contract, without making a single appearance in the Portsmouth's first team. It was reported that Niemi earned almost £450,000 during those eight months with Portsmouth.

Good lad Antti.

Not sure Viafara was a 'fans favourite'. Maybe people appreciated him for the Derby match, but other than that he was pretty abysmal. Never seen someone give the ball away so much in my life.

Don't diss big Jonny - one of the coolest playerz we have had at SFC for quite some time! I always felt he gave out a certain gangsta cool in our midfield - he gave the impression he was only ever one headline away from a drugs bust, a drive-by, or an unfortunate domestic incident. Fairly average playa but he wouldn't have needed no hand-hold from the Feds to get to FP. Schitt no, respect to the fella!

Magic at Derby too, 'officially; (in my mind) 'the best Saints game eva'.
