Portsmouth away tickets - ballot reopened!

No. If you want 3 tickets you fill out 12 forms with each persons name on 7 of the forms each, except for the last person who you only need to put down twice. You also need to post each form seperately and send by courier and you can only pay for the ticket with a card of someone who isn't in the name of the person on the application or related to them at all.

Glad to help.

You forgot to mention that 6 envelopes need to be stuck down with Strawberry Jam (no bits) and 6 stuck down with Orange Marmelade (with the orange rind sieved out). Very important, Don is fussy.

F*ck I hope the players aint going down there with the same limp-wristed attitude of some of our "can't be bothered" fans. Anyone remember 2005?

Myself, I prefer to remember 1984 and the pleasure that brought being there.

Grow a backbone some of you.

It has nothing to do with that. I can't get down to get the bloody bus ticket. I've not missed a game there in recent times, but having to fork out for diesel and spend 6 hours on a round trip is too much to justify when there's no rational reason why they can't simply post the bus ticket out.

Not surprised at all that it hasn't sold out under this ballot (said so from day one that it wouldn't sell out in this first round).

Not even sure it will sell out under the current restrictions.

I'm certainly not jumping through all these hoops and agree to be treated like cattle.

Someone needs to contest these draconian restrictions.

I looked into it and quickly realised you need to be legally aided.

Why? Personally I'd will never go to a bubble match, even if it was against Barcelona, let alone the fish fiddlers. Maybe I'm not alone in that...

Whilst I don't agree with the bubble, surely you just want to be there? Imagine being sat at home, watching 3k Saints go berserk behind the goal when we smash in a last minute winner and you're sat at home with the mrs nagging you to turn over to X-Factor. At least you would've proved a point about refusing to get on a bus for the 17mile trip down the road...

The train journey is no different anyway. The OB herd you on, tag along for the ride, then herd you in the ground at the other end.

I can't understand the mentality or logic of any Saints fan who would willingly miss this game.

This doesn't bother me at all, apart from the price of the match ticket I will not be spending a single penny in that rotting cesspit of a town

Agree 100% I have to go down there on business don't even like paying for parking in that hit hole.

Spot on. The bubble is inconvenient for those not living in Southampton, but the majority are using it as an excuse. What possible reason any Saints fans can have to miss this game I've no idea, especially when you consider our last few results against them.

Every time I have done one of these dumb ballots I have got a ticket and I go to an away game once every blue moon.

"extended the ballot application" - what a load of old ****e, just sell the tickets to whoever wants them. if someone wants to go badly enough they will queue up, if they don't they won't.

Prob being stupid but bit confused about the part of being able to to apply for one additional ticket if you have already been successful.

Want to get a ticket for my brother (who is a ST holder but stupidly didn't apply first time round) do I put my details on the form or his ? if my details how does it work with the ticket being allocated to him/his name ?...or if his details on the form how they know it's in connection to me.

And do those who apply for a extra ticket automatically get priority over those non ST holders/ST holders applying for first time in 2nd ballot round ? seems bit unfair really if so.

I wanted 2 more tickets so I phoned the TO and they said put my own and another ST holder on the form and that would be fine.

It's a free for all so my form went off tonight via recorded delivery.

i find it unreal we can sell out bristol city to sth but not our main rivals,as a non sth but who goes to plenty of away games, have to say im peed off that sth get another chance, why are those who do aways and are on the database not given the priority now.

Have you even read the article on the website?

Tickets are also available to people on the database with 4 away games on their account. If you haven’t that many just try and blag it and say you paid on the day up at games.

If you look at any of the clubs that have to do bubble trips, very rarely do teams sell out with the pain in the ass restrictions. I would be suprised if we sold out, cant blame people for not wanting to go and having a decent day down the pub rather than on some sweaty double decker buses. However I am going and looking forward it.

Love the saints, hate the skates.

We should have boycotted but we are Southampton, we do what we're told.

I'm not going and would've if not for compulsory travel with a load of idiots on a coach - many people saying worth the hassle are probably secretly pleased they have the safety of the coach travel although give it the token moaning.

This is what is wrong with the country no ******** to protest juts grateful to the authorities which will be perpetuated cos you all fell in line

This! I recluctantly understand that I have to wait for the STH to have the first dibs on tickets but resent now having to contend against the other non STH that go to away games such as myself AND the season ticket holders bloody plus ones! It is like the JTP final all over again. As far as I am concerned, plus ones should be at the bottom of the list to go.

That's funny, because I'd have said you are the one falling in line to give the police exactly what they want by not going.

Do you really think that the police don't want away fans at matches? I can't see the clubs or the FA feeling the same way.

Most clubs who get forced into bubble trips don't sell out their allocation. Bristol City rarely take more than 300 to Cardiff these days because of it, they just can't be arsed with the hassle.

Spot on there mate.

The whole aim of this is to reduce travelling numbers. Cardiff hardly take any for their bubble trips (bar Swansea) and that is the dream scenario for the police. I wouldn't dream of letting draconian actions from the OB stop me attending the highlight of the season. As for the safety of the coach, it's no different to being herded around on the train by the OB and if anything will probably lead to even more trouble than normal as the Skates are going to have 50 odd coaches to take aim at as we slowly crawl though that khazi.

I may have missed it, but have the club put out clarification as to how they're going to allocate these remaining tickets? Is it literally first come, first served?

As always, it seems to be entirely vague.

It doesn't say, but they used the term "re-opened ballot" and provided a closing date, as opposed to explicitly saying it was first come first served, which it never has been previously when you've had to complete a form. So my money's on them pulling pieces of paper out of a hat (or Sammy Saint's inverted head) from Wednesday morning.

As for the people who can't work out how to fill in the form... :o

Also, you can't really compare English football to German football. Football over here is dead when it comes to fan culture and the like. Our only saving grace is going to be when clubs can't carry their obscene debt levels any more and the whole thing implodes (sooner the better) and the fans can finally take back the game.

If we had a sausage train we'd sell out every week.

If we had €12 safe standing tickets, allowed a beer in your seat/terrace and served Currywurst outside the ground, we would sell out.

I'm off to see Fortuna Dusseldorf on Monday night - paid €10 for a ticket in their main ultras end and then going to Hamburg v Rangers on the Tuesday night - paid €12 for a ticket in their main ultras end. Though also have a €19 ticket in the Rangers end, so will see which end tickles my fancy on the night.

I'm getting to the point now where I'd rather go and watch a few games on the continent on a weekend, football over here is becoming depressing the way the clubs and police act. I'm just thankful things are good for Saints at the moment so it's a lot easier to take.

have the Christmas markers opened there yet? i was there in 2005 and it was a good laugh, they serve beer and gluwein and lots of german totty with their blonde hair sticking out under their wooly hats, they used to be in the 3rd division but have a big ground.

Yeah they're open now. They are Bundesliga 2 now, near the top. The ground holds around 55,000 but they average 30k. It's a top of the table clash so should be a big crowd. Can't wait to bounce around with their Ultras. Ha.

I can see little excuse for anyone who's local not going as the trip to the TO is no problem.

I printed out the ballot form last night, filled it in, but i've just binned it because I just cannot be arsed to drive down to pick up a bus ticket (which would basically mean 6 hours on the road) and spend the money required to do it. A few years ago i'd have probably done it, but i'm now older and the thought of the hassle is too much.

Oh well at least it's on the tv.

I don't blame the police, I blame the ticket office manager. Complete joke. I'd do whatever it took to be there but can understand why people are not. I mean if you live miles away what's the harm of collecting ticket on the bus with confirmation email and season ticket/I'd. Joke.

Which just abouts sums up this whole fiasco.

You can't blame the club though, this is PC Burrows master plan. I just cannot see the logic behind it because there is no logic. And what will add insult to injury is that he'll probably come out after the game and basically say what a brilliant job he's done.

This is why I hope it doesn't sell out. If it doesn't sell out it will be really embarrassing and that will lead to a post mortem over such matters and PC Burrows claims of success will then be laughable. You've got to look to the future and if you don't want a repeat of this then it failing is the best scenario.

Surely the affair isn't being managed by a humble PC,must at least be a Sergeant or an Inspector involved.

International policing observers are converging on a major English football derby to see a new tactic deployed by Hampshire Constabulary in action.

Representatives from Denmark and Poland will be on hand to see the operation focusing on the pre-Christmas Portsmouth v Southampton match – when measures to ensure supporters are completely isolated from each other will be in place.
