Guly and Lambert up front with Barny (possibly Forte) for back up hardly desperate..

Barney is coming back from 6 months out and a possible jail sentence hanging over him and Forte isn't good enough to play at this level and currently out on loan. We do need a striker

He's backup he isn't going to be as good as our first choice strikers we're unlikely to get anyone as good as we already have that's going to come just to sit on the bench (if they're lucky considering the 5 sub rule).

He isn't backup. As he isn't here.

Barney looked pretty good to me in his camo on saturday and he might not go to jail either. Forte is backup on loan for a month is he our best striker? no but we would have to be pretty unluck to need him. How many amazing strikers want to come here to be 4th or 5th choice?

Simon Peach has tweeted that he is led to believe Saints move for Juke is a red herring as Coventry are looking to get more money out of Boro !!

Would be a bit disappointed if this did turn out to be the case as I think he'd be a good signing, Saints fan or not. Could the subterfuge mean that we have another target in mind then? Despite his dreadful personal circumstances, Billy Sharp maybe?

I can't see anyone coming in
That's pretty much it. We had the same over the top predictions during the summer only to see modest investment in the team. would imagine that NC and NA are more than satisfied with our position at the moment, exceeding their wildest dreams !

Even when we do slip down the league due to lack of back up we will at the very least meet our target of consolidation with the outside possibility of a play off place.

TBH I thought the target was 17th. With 7 games to go till the midway point in the season, 2 points per game (i.e. 14) will give us 53, which is usually enough for 17th at the end of the season, therefore we can afford to lose all of our games in the second half of the season and achieve our target.

I never knew that the team in 17th position made it to the play-offs!!

It will not be just bench warming will it......Lambo will need a rest or he could injured too - we have no ready stand in for a game or three or for a quarter of a game even. Anyway who's to say this Cov lad won't force his way in at some stage as even Lambo has a drop in form now and then. Typical how football fans hype players up to massive level, to God like status - Lambo is not God and will need a decent guy waiting for his moment - always sooner than you think........

my thoughts too.

I think Ricky is a great player and as leading scorer in the division has proved it, but should he be injured ...we have no natural successor to take his place...

So it is bench warming then until Lambert needs a rest or is injuried? People said the same things last season and (no doubt the season before) we already have players who can't even get on the matchday bench now. How many players do we need kicking up their heels waiting for a chance? It can't be good for team spirit to have to many players not involved in first team action.
