What does your newspaper say about you?

Well aware of that and couldn't give a ****. Certain posters on here talk about the Mail like its Mein Kampf, it just tells it like it is IMO.

The Daily Mail does not tell it like it is. It tries to create mass panic, and extrapolates small non-points into major stories. Most of what it says are just white lies.

I only read things online, usually BBC. That will always have everything I need to know as I'm not particularly interested in all the other rubbish that fills the pages. Newspapers are for over 50's and builders only. IMO.

I wonder why posters find the daily hate like mein kampf anyway glad you found a paper which represents your views.

Sadly though, without people buying papers the online wouldn't be there, and with dwindling sales the future looks bleak.

The Guardian for example has made a loss for years, but recently the losses have become unsustainable even for their funding model.

I think Guardian will be alright in the end though. They are growing their online presence substantially. Their website is very popular.

Yep, I love BBC news. I can always trust it to be impartial and present the facts.

My brother is an editor at the Times. Good paper, everybody likes it, but people are stopping buying the printed paper and just wont take out online subscriptions because they think the internet should be free. All the broadsheets are shedding masses of staff and quality is sliding. In a few years time good researched jounalism will have all but disappeared and been replaced by pop trash and weirdos blogging. Ironically I think its creating a new need for the BBC, after arguably 20 or 30 years from the 1980s when it struggled for a role.

I don't touch the Times as it is owned by News International. The Telegraph is where it is at for Right-Wing spin on news.

The future of media is online or on television and sky BBC are far better than any newspaper crap

Sky can be okay for some stuff, but awful at other stuff. I generally find the BBC to be the best and most consistent, non-bias news provider. I love the BBC, it is brilliant.

The Times is pretty centrist rather than right.

Fair enough, I never found it as right-wing as the Telegraph, but it's definitely more right-wing than me! But I don't touch it nowadays on principle.

But I do like to read pieces that disagree with my opinion as well as agree. I think it is a good way to keep on top and strengthen your own views.

I agree and the telegraph is more of a moderate Tory paper unlike the looney right mail and express.

The Telegraph presents reasoned right-wing views in a sensible manor, backed up in an intelligent way. The Express and the Mail just spout out complete ****.

The newspaper you prefer probably indicates how good a reader you are, how intelligent you are, and how sophisticated your world-view is. It probably indicates whether or not you have a wide interest in news (local, national and international), politics, culture, sports and entertainment. It also indicates whether or not you're interested in thinking about things and having your views challenged, or just prefer to have your biases and prejudices reinforced. Or if you just prefer to look at the pictures and scan the headlines.

I only buy a newspaper on match days. I hate the Sun and everything it stands for, but for the price it still has the best saturday footy reporting to mug up on the train. I am, however, deeply embarrassed by it. So I do buy the Independent too and hide the Bun inside it.

The indie is a fantastic paper. Exceptional quality journalism especially international reporting.

Online I read the Telegraph and Guardian. But I hate the guardian. It is just loopy-loos Nottinghill luvvies like that odious Polly Townbee. She is totally loaded, has a villa in Italy and a huge house in a respectable north London area and has the feking nerve to lecture me on her champagne socialism. She is the embodiment of why I hate the Labour party these days. The party of the people has been taken over by these spineless luvvies who wouldn't know work if it bit them on their over-pampered arse.

Times or Telegraph for me if I ever get time to read a paper (a well appreciated luxury) and I do also look at the Guardian online from time to time.

I also actually find the BBC pretty good for news and unbiased (and I'm a moderate Tory)

1976_Child is a 100% right about Poly Toynbee though, the word condescend was invented for her.

I dream of retirement; an afternoon pint, a log fire, a chesterfield, a broadsheet and no one to bother me for hours.

Actually I think you're right, papers probably are for the over 60's. Oh well, just another 30 years at the coal face.

Usually the Morning Star or Socialist Workers Weekly , some days I feel really bolshy and buy the Guardian. ;)

Are you one of those unwashed creatures that used to hand out Socialiast Worker leaflets in the city centre?

I just used to look down my nose at them if they approached.

You know nothing of my life. Everyone on this DEBATE forum is going to come across as boring opinionated ****s. You are the bad one for judging someone over a few posts on an internet forum.

Andy's favourite pastimes are watching Question Time and reading directgov websites. This is not the behaviour of a boring teenager.

Again, you know NOTHING of my life from posts on a debate forum. So stop judging.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Remember, this thread was started by a self-confessed racist scumbag who thinks it's okay to admit publicly that he reads the Express - and then okay to troll his own thread. That he's tolerated on here encourages him to think his 'views' are anything more than wasted carbon dioxide.

On topic, which newspaper you read tells you practically nothing very interesting about who you are.

Its funny you say that, your hero Verbal let slip that he reads the Mail a little while back. He even posted a link to a story from there to support one of his bizarre crusades. He'll slag the paper and it's readers off dismissing them as racist scum and a paper full of lies and agendas on the one hand then use the same paper when it suits. He seems like the man you youngsters admire so much has very low moral values, despite his claims. Careful boys, you may have run into the pied piper of Saintsweb.

I read the Mail, I hate most of what it says. It is good to keep up with other viewpoints though.

Why would you waste time reading something you are so against and believe to be full of lies? Do you regularly read the BNP and EDL websites to keep up with their viewpoints?

Would you trust the view of a man that regularly condemns something then uses it to support his arguments when an article suited his agenda?
