Doctoroncall Posted 5 November, 2018 Share Posted 5 November, 2018 It seems statues are difficult to make life like: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/nov/05/mohamed-salah-statue-mocked-by-fans-as-striker-gets-ronaldo-treatment
Cabbage_Face Posted 5 November, 2018 Share Posted 5 November, 2018 Lmao loved that old statue, remember when it got original criticism and the poster on here who was campaigning and assigned the "wood carver" defended it to the hills. Turned out to be a pile of ****e.

kwsaint Posted 5 November, 2018 Share Posted 5 November, 2018 To be fair to the original Ted Bates statue it was never as embarrassing as this…. Saw the Michael Jackson statue when Saints played at Fulham the first season back in the Premier League in 2012. It was truly dreadful. Apparently it was removed in 2013 by the new chairman and in 2014 was installed at the National Football Museum in Manchester. Why they would want it is beyond me. Al-Fayed blamed Fulham's relegation in 2014 on the removal of the statue, You couldn't make this stuff up. Fulham now have a statue of George Cohen outside the ground, which seems far more fitting. davefoggy Posted 5 November, 2018 Share Posted 5 November, 2018 It's a shame the original forum thread isn't still available. I think it was 'The Farmer' who posted the image of his hand coming over the roof and holding up a floodlight stand. I literally had to get out of my seat and walk around the room, I was laughing so hard it bloody hurt sitting down Yeah same here mate!!! Absolutely priceless!!!! Still funny all these years on

eurosaint Posted 6 November, 2018 Share Posted 6 November, 2018 Bizarrely I was in Glasgow last week and almost bumped into the Krankies as I approached the airport car park ! Little Jimmy is an absolute midget but my mind immediately skipped to the Ted Bates statue ! She must have wondered what the hell I was laughing at :)

64saint
https://www.odditycentral.com/pics/artist-spends-17-years-carving-model-of-the-hms-victory.html Umm, was always going to be dodgy with his Pompey connections. From a Ted Bates statue to carving HMS Victory 🙄🫣. No surprise it looked more like Milan Mandric then. 🤣 Edited March 24 by 64saint
