Crazy Diamond Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 Thoughts, ladies and gentlemen? Try to avoid saying 'Smoke on the Water' as a default choice. For me, either Black Night or Stormbringer. Was reminded of them by the ads for their tour with an orchestra (I won't be going, personally) and gave them a listen. What a great band, but to me Deep Purple aren't Deep Purple without Blackmore.

Back in the day, whenever Black Night was played at party's a group of us would sing the whole teams names at the end of each guitar riff ... Da Dada Da dada da dada da .... Ian Turner , Da Dada Da dada da dada da .... Peter rodrigues etc etc .... being drunk helped !!!
badgerx16 Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 I would add 'Burn' and 'Strange Kind of Woman'.

Winnersaint Posted 22 November, 2011 Share Posted 22 November, 2011 Space Truckin, closely followed by Child in Time. Remember seeing them in Feb 1973 at Bournemouth Winter Gardens with Nazareth as the support band. Lets just say that was one loud gig!

Nellie Posted 22 November, 2011 Share Posted 22 November, 2011 Gotta be 'Perfect Strangers' for me. It's got an aggressive, moody feel to it that I can listen to over and over.
sandwichsaint Posted 22 November, 2011 Share Posted 22 November, 2011 I didn't realise they had ever recorded more than one song. If SOTW is best, can't imagine the others are up to much.
