Gemmel Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Well I laughed. Actually quite clever for the blue few. Apparently got it's first airing yesterday. http://fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=387984
Crab Lungs Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 The problem is, I think we'll all join in!
Dan Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Suprised they managed that. Normally 3 worded songs is the best they can manage...
Ohio Saint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Any mention of the statue makes me chuckle, even if it comes from them!!
st alex Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 The problem is, I think we'll all join in! I like it. Think we could sing that as well.
Crab Lungs Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I like it. Think we could sing that as well. Would certainly take any possible sting out of the 'insult'!
Yate Saint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I could maybe understand it if the original statue was still there and the word 'had' was changed for 'has'. Considering how long the new statue has been up its a poor show from the poopey songwriters. I think our 'Steeeeeeeeeve' chant is better.
Lighthouse Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I still think the Saints Web thread when that statue was unveiled is one of the funniest in the history of the interwebs. Such a shame it's gone forever.
Ohio Saint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I still think the Saints Web thread when that statue was unveiled is one of the funniest in the history of the interwebs. Such a shame it's gone forever. "ooh!! Nice statue!" "It looks OK to me" "Hold on, isn't that statue a piece of crap?" "Oh! yeah! It IS a piece of crap" "Statue OUT!" That thread, you mean?
Lighthouse Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I'm sure we can come up with a song about the statue buying/managing/supporting/playing for Pompey if we try.
Badger Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Nice of them to again seek to immortalise, in song, something or someone connected with their vastly superior neighbours. Has there ever been anyone worthy of a statue in their history ? 'Arry, Gin Smith, Mandaric, Peter Storrey ? In truth there probably was in Jimmy Dickenson but they were too dimwitted to commission it. Did I not read somewhere the original artist - certainly not a sculptor - was from down their way ?
SaintRobbie Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I thought that was quite funny… and to be fair it was ever so slightly accurate at one stage!
dune Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Hardly topical though. It's the sort of song i'd expect someone on TSW to think of and everyone else to chortle at.
Jimmy_D Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I'm sure we can come up with a song about the statue buying/managing/supporting/playing for Pompey if we try. Something along the lines of "that's your next manager" in reply to them singing that song? (to the tune of "that's why you're going down")
slickmick Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 PRETTY good for the skates, though I can't see them remembering it. They will more likely sing: 4 v 1 in your own back yard so i've been told.
Jimmy_D Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 It's all a bit moot, as they won't be singing much of anything after we go 2 or 3 ahead.
Spudders Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Hardly topical though....... indeed, it's taken them 4 years and 8 months to come up with that!..... bless.
The9 Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 PRETTY good for the skates, though I can't see them remembering it. They will more likely sing: 4 v 1 in your own back yard so i've been told. Until we go 4 up, then they might give it a rest.
Right sider Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Ted Bates statue is better than your goalie..... then, Ted Bates statue is better than your defence.... followed by, Ted Bates statue is better than your midfield.... and obviously, Ted Bates statue is better than your attack....
Turkish Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 IT is funny, just a shame it's about 4 years too late.

It's at times like this that you wish this forum had a round of applause smiley like the UI has. Good work fella.
RobM Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Better than any effort Brighton have come up with so far.
Ed Rooney Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Fratton Park has tiny little stands, tiny little stands, tiny little stands
Saint Malc Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 That song is soooooo lame it's embarrassing for them
um pahars Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Someone might need to tell one of their posters that it won't really nark us given that we have taken the **** out of that statue from day one (time for another picture of it please!!!!).
The9 Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Nice timing : http://ridiculousfootball.blogspot.com/2011/11/statuesque-ted-bates.html

Micky Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 It would appear that TCWTB ruined it for some of them though, not particularly popular with a lot on there: "That sounds like a great song and we would have loved to join in. But sadly we were stuck 20 or so rows in front of JPFCW & the drummers. What a bunch of mouth breathing, atmosphere killers they really are. How does anyone in the Fratton End put up with them? The real downside of the alcohol ban was that they stayed in the stand at half time pretending to be "jazz drummers". W**kers!"
Paul Chuckle Posted 21 November, 2011 Posted 21 November, 2011 IT is funny, just a shame it's about 4 years too late. this
hamster Posted 22 November, 2011 Posted 22 November, 2011 I fail to see what is so amusing about having little legs.
Golden Balls Posted 22 November, 2011 Posted 22 November, 2011 Would have been hilarious 4 years ago.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 November, 2011 Posted 22 November, 2011 Fratton Park has tiny little stands, tiny little stands, tiny little stands Like it.
