After the second given penalty (third goal) Barnes barges into the ref quite hard in indignation, now if I had been ref he would have walked immediately, especially as he sent a player off earlier for swearing at him!

I know Marcus took a dim view of this sort of thing, wonder if Cortese/Adkins hold the same view as we seem to hold back from the ref even when blatantly slighted.

You're probably right that that could have been deemed a red (don't even think he got a caution for it, Calderon did though).

 

However, although we're not operating at the level of Gus' Brighton, we're certainly not immune to a bit of gamesmanship (Deano's dive) and trying to influence the ref (e.g. Vs Posh).

As for Ricky, the restraint he showed yesterday was immense! he was floored a couple of times yesterday by lads half his size, i wouldnt have been so gracious, then again it would have been him that walked if he had reacted.

Nah, I saw it too, kicks Chaplow in Saints' own half then the ball goes down our right and he tries to boot someone near the edge of the box too.
