I think he'd do a good job in the Prem, he has stepped up another level under Adkins. He not only scores goals now, but is a great link player his touch is very good and he has a good range of passes. Its not all just about speed, its also speed of thought & creating space for yourself to give yourself that half yard to make the killer passes etc. he appears to have added that to his game this year.

Look at some of the dross playing in the Premier League. If Lambert believes in himself and plays with confidence, he's more than good enough. Our whole team is. Without improvement I'd think our team would have solidly mid-table in that league. Norwich and Swansea are doing fine and I wouldn't swap squads for a second. We have a huge advantage with our attacking ability and Lallana particularly.

I don't have much respect for the quality of the bottom half of that league. You'll find some good players in there, a huge amount of money spent, but no good teams. Blackburn have players we'd like, players many teams would, but an awful team. Sunderland spend fortunes on dross every season, but I wouldn't swap with them for a second. Besides the top 5 or 6, there's nothing to fear whatsoever.

If we were up there, Lambert would be getting a huge number of chances to score anyway.

And that is it. We are a team, not a collection of individuals. We've got a style of play that each player knows their job and work hard for each other. You only have to look at the way the goals were celebrated yesterday, everyone except Davis celebrated them together. Any manager can pick and buy 11 players, but not that many managers can get them playing as a team with such great togetherness and spirit.

apart from the top 7 or 8 I think we could compete with the other teams in the PL. I think Lambert is good enough. We'd need one or two quality signings (maybe raiding the Barcelona B team for a couple of their players?) but I think we could compete.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, there's a long, long way to go in this season yet.

Interestingly, one more win and we'll match the points total that the championship's relegated teams last year achieved in the whole season

I'll ask again as this is quite clearly the most bizarre post I've ever read on here (and that takes some beating!!). Who is slagging him off?

It is amazing how fit and athletic we have got our players and Lambert is a classic example. Look at his picture on Wicki and see him from his BR days..........he looks a right pudding. It is his dedication as well that has acheived this and for that reason I think he will step up to the plate again when we get to the Prem and get even fitter. He is more than capable

Lambert is one of the most reliable penalty takes playing at present: and that's no mean skill! He has a terrific free kick in him too. He's big and strong, an intelligent player, good header of the ball, shields and holds up the ball well, plays his team mates in, knows where the goal is, is indeed a natural goal scorer. For all those reasons, I have no doubt he could do a job in the Prem. He won't be the force in the Prem that he is now, because he lacks pace & quickness, and Prem defenders are just faster, quicker, & stronger than the ones in L1 and the Championship. But for his penalties & free kicks alone he'd be worth his place in a Prem squad, in my view, and he has more than that to offer.

A year or two ago I'd have said he'd probably be found out and wanting in the Premiership. A little bit too slow and a bit predictable. Most top flight or seasoned Premiership defenders would have him sussed.

But now? I think he's improved hugely in the last 2 seasons, significantly in 2011, and would be more than a handful for a lot of teams. Would he be one of the top scorers or bang in hat tricks left, right and centre? No but he's certainly good enough for the Premiership.

I didn't think he would take the step up to the champ as he wasn't all that last season, but now he has been stunning.

I don't know if he could cut it, I think he may be able to, Turks is right though, take him out and put him in another team and it may not quite work but here it does.

We won't know until we are there, hopefully we will find out.

Is he as good as Holt (norwich)?

Yep, how many of those listed below would you want instead of Lambert?

Way better than Helgusson, Di Santo, Leon Best and Steve Morison, Simeon Jackson*

I'm pretty sure better than Danny Graham, Jay Bothroyd, Grant Holt, Shola Ameobi, Connor Wickham (ignoring potential), Heskey, Ebanks Blake, Simon Cox*, Klasnic, Goodwillie, Connor Salmon.

Arguably better than Jon Walters, Cameron Jerome, Jason Roberts, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Fletcher.

*notwithstanding, could be a decent loan signing in January.
