killer fan Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 ricky has been amazing so far his ball controll and his tounch and picking people out and his goals have been first class do you recon he could do it in the prem i like to think he can but i think hes a bit slow and defenders in the prem are much quicker keep it up lambert
S-Clarke Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 He could do a job for sure, which is why we'll get premiership vultures hovering around in January I'm sure. Although to be honest I doubt there's any other place he'd rather be right now, apart from Mersyside.

Cabrone Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 Yes. Partner him with some pace and he can be a very effective old school centre forward in the prem. He's got the strength, heading ability, finishing quality plus he's lethal from a penalty spot and takes great free kicks.
Under Weststand Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 I think he'd do a good job in the Prem, he has stepped up another level under Adkins. He not only scores goals now, but is a great link player his touch is very good and he has a good range of passes. Its not all just about speed, its also speed of thought & creating space for yourself to give yourself that half yard to make the killer passes etc. he appears to have added that to his game this year. dune Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 Yes. A whole host of clubs outside the current top 6 would love him in their squad.
Turkish Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 Look at some of the dross playing in the Premier League. If Lambert believes in himself and plays with confidence, he's more than good enough. Our whole team is. Without improvement I'd think our team would have solidly mid-table in that league. Norwich and Swansea are doing fine and I wouldn't swap squads for a second. We have a huge advantage with our attacking ability and Lallana particularly. I don't have much respect for the quality of the bottom half of that league. You'll find some good players in there, a huge amount of money spent, but no good teams. Blackburn have players we'd like, players many teams would, but an awful team. Sunderland spend fortunes on dross every season, but I wouldn't swap with them for a second. Besides the top 5 or 6, there's nothing to fear whatsoever. If we were up there, Lambert would be getting a huge number of chances to score anyway. And that is it. We are a team, not a collection of individuals. We've got a style of play that each player knows their job and work hard for each other. You only have to look at the way the goals were celebrated yesterday, everyone except Davis celebrated them together. Any manager can pick and buy 11 players, but not that many managers can get them playing as a team with such great togetherness and spirit. skintsaint Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 If Steve Morison can play in the Premiership who is a fackin awful player then I have no doubt that Lambert can step up.

JackFrost Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 apart from the top 7 or 8 I think we could compete with the other teams in the PL. I think Lambert is good enough. We'd need one or two quality signings (maybe raiding the Barcelona B team for a couple of their players?) but I think we could compete. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, there's a long, long way to go in this season yet. Interestingly, one more win and we'll match the points total that the championship's relegated teams last year achieved in the whole season

mitch01 Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 I wonder if he has any more gears to move up into under Adkins. He's twice the player he was 12 months ago, and still far better than even his first year here. His link-up play has become his greatest strength. Jimmy_D Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 If we do get promoted this season, and he manages to step up again, never mind doing well in the Prem, I can see him breaking into the England team, a bit like Kevin Davies did. Big_Bald_Si Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 At the start of this season, I said he wasn't good enough for the Championship, but at this present time he's top scorer by 3 clear goals. I'm more than happy to be proved wrong again.
bangkoksaint Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 It is amazing how fit and athletic we have got our players and Lambert is a classic example. Look at his picture on Wicki and see him from his BR days..........he looks a right pudding. It is his dedication as well that has acheived this and for that reason I think he will step up to the plate again when we get to the Prem and get even fitter. He is more than capable
RinNY Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 Lambert is one of the most reliable penalty takes playing at present: and that's no mean skill! He has a terrific free kick in him too. He's big and strong, an intelligent player, good header of the ball, shields and holds up the ball well, plays his team mates in, knows where the goal is, is indeed a natural goal scorer. For all those reasons, I have no doubt he could do a job in the Prem. He won't be the force in the Prem that he is now, because he lacks pace & quickness, and Prem defenders are just faster, quicker, & stronger than the ones in L1 and the Championship. But for his penalties & free kicks alone he'd be worth his place in a Prem squad, in my view, and he has more than that to offer.
Agent Orange Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 A year or two ago I'd have said he'd probably be found out and wanting in the Premiership. A little bit too slow and a bit predictable. Most top flight or seasoned Premiership defenders would have him sussed. But now? I think he's improved hugely in the last 2 seasons, significantly in 2011, and would be more than a handful for a lot of teams. Would he be one of the top scorers or bang in hat tricks left, right and centre? No but he's certainly good enough for the Premiership.

Smirking_Saint Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 I didn't think he would take the step up to the champ as he wasn't all that last season, but now he has been stunning. I don't know if he could cut it, I think he may be able to, Turks is right though, take him out and put him in another team and it may not quite work but here it does. We won't know until we are there, hopefully we will find out.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 20 November, 2011 Share Posted 20 November, 2011 Is he as good as Holt (norwich)? Yep, how many of those listed below would you want instead of Lambert? Way better than Helgusson, Di Santo, Leon Best and Steve Morison, Simeon Jackson* I'm pretty sure better than Danny Graham, Jay Bothroyd, Grant Holt, Shola Ameobi, Connor Wickham (ignoring potential), Heskey, Ebanks Blake, Simon Cox*, Klasnic, Goodwillie, Connor Salmon. Arguably better than Jon Walters, Cameron Jerome, Jason Roberts, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Fletcher. *notwithstanding, could be a decent loan signing in January.
