sammysaint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 After watching the highlights again and seeing again Lambo being effective like he has all season am i the only one who thinks he deserves a chance at a England call up ? I know Zamoras goal ratio is not amazing but his build up play for Fulham is why hes being picked by Fabio, but Lambo does this and scores i think after this hat trick Fabio really does need to look at him IMO and his pen taking.

How can the Italian look at Rickie, he does'nt know that there are any others leagues in England apart from the PL.. also, that there are only six teams in the so-called Premier league, and they are the ones that supply him with the freebies.
farawaysaint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 When Rickie gets his big miney Arsenal move he'll be in the team the week after
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Bothroyd got in the squad when he was a Championship player.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I love Ricky Lambert, indeed I'd marry him & populate Hampshire with a whole tribe of little scousers if only he wasn't already taken ..... but I'll eat my hat if he ever plays for England. Lambert v CMS on the other hand is a good question. Despite his limited impact yesterday, CMS a natural born goalscorer and I still think he'd have been a invaluable addition to this squad. Guly, Lambert, and CMS might (on paper anyway) represent something like the perfect strike force at this level. I wonder if the realization that he's signed for the wrong south coast club is starting to dawn on him ?
skintsaint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Rickie is too old for a call up - he is looking at younger players these days for uncapped call ups.
Fan The Flames Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 The Italian feels that Zamora is the new Heskey, Lambert is strong enough to hold the ball up. But you do need to have played in the prem first, Steve Bull didn't really take the international scene by storm.
Roger Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Rickie is too old for a call up - he is looking at younger players these days for uncapped call ups. Zamoro? Kevin Davies was 32/33. I rickie is scoring goals for fun this time next year in prem, I recon he will be called up.
paulwantsapint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 If jack Charlton was still the Irish boss Rickie would be going to the euros due to he must have an Irish great great grandparent or at least have drunk a pint of Guinness Anyway Rickie will need a break come may June after regaining his title of highest scorer in England

Think you're confusing him with Sven.
S-Clarke Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Rickie will never play for england. Let's not get carried away.
Jonnyboy Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Last year Id have said itll never happen. Now Id say stranger things have happened. (Pardew for next England manager?)
Mattio Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 no rooney now and kevin davies got a call up last year so why not?
david in sweden Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Rickie is too old for a call up - he is looking at younger players these days for uncapped call ups. TRUE ..but with a tournament only a few months away, it would do not harm to pick an in-form player, now would it ?
skintsaint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Rooney, Carroll, Defoe and Bent will be going to the Euro's barring injury. Walcott in the squad also.
Jimmy_D Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 I don't think he'll ever be a tournament player for England, but I do think it's possible he'll earn a cap, a bit like Kevin Davies did.
This Charming Man Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Whilst Lambert playing for England is never going to happen, I did have this conversation with my old man the other day about Lambert being better than Zamora. I felt embarrassed for Zamora when he played against Sweden the other night. He just isn't an international footballer. He's been average his entire career, never lived up to his full potential, had a good season last year and that's about it. Lambert's hold-up play is superb and his ability to win a header without even jumping half the time is incredible. I would love for him to get a crack at the Premiership next year (with us!) too see how he get's on.
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 November, 2011 Posted 20 November, 2011 Zamora has been plying his trade in the prem for a good few years now and before that performing in the championship, he also had a very good season in Europe last year (or year before can't remember). Rickie as much as I rate him has had half a decent season in the champ. Lets put things into perspective. That said, Bothroyyd has a cap and he is an woeful.
Torrent Of Abuse Posted 21 November, 2011 Posted 21 November, 2011 He won't get picked until he's figuring in the high scorer's table in the Premiership. So, next season it is then.
