Bristol City V Saints Build Up

City fans on their forum are saying their tickets are selling well, already a biggest attendance of the season.

Also a fair few of them saying they're lumping money on them to be promoted. They've had some good results, but they've come against questionable opposition (barring WHU). I watched their game at the weekend and they were only marginally better than Millwall, who were gash.

0-3

Got a link? I fancy a good laugh.

it is a shame they didn't just give us the whole end behind the goal, we would have filled it and helped them get a sell out

They're very confident on there. Most expecting at least a point

Not surprised they're confident, they're in great form and have nothing to lose against us. We're not as good away and their pace will trouble us a lot. I'd be amazed if we won it by more than one goal, and amazed if we kept a clean sheet. Many seem to think it's an easy game, yet they've held west ham and beaten leicester. Personally I'd take a draw and another win against Hull. If I was still a gambling man, I'd go for the Bristol City win. Good odds and a good chance of it happening.

They are 3rd from Bottom and have won once at home.

Lambert to have a good time and score, locals to go mental at him.

Cheers. Decent forum/posters to be fair, but they do seem excited by their current form - they've still got a long way to go to get out of trouble.

In fairness though their defence ain't up to much and we have the most free scoring team in the league, so although their attack is decent so is ours a high scoring game could well be on the cards.

The footballgroundguide website says the Hen & Chicken should be given a "wide berth". The Cottage Inn at Baltic Wharf looks a like a good boozer, we're gunna head there. http://www.cottage.butcombe.com/

I think this will be a really tough game, despite their position in the league table they've really picked up under their new manager, unbeaten under him I believe. Going with a tight 2-1 win for Saints.

The Cottage is a nice pub and en route to the ground from Temple Meads. My group of 5 or so will be in there!

And how exactly are they going to get promoted when they are 3rd from bottom and in all probability going to lose Nicky Maynard in the January transfer window?

And people think some of our fans are deluded!

It's a big ask, but they are 11 points off the playoffs with the majority of the season remaining. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be quite so sure that it's impossible for any team in this league to do it.

Alright Chaps,

Quick word of advice for any saints chancing the home end on Saturday.

You should be fine as long as you dont come in giving it the biggun like some ill advised leeds fans did - we have some fairly intolerent fans for that kind of thing.

Otherwise, enjoy the game - looking set to be an entertaining one.....

21,000 capacity ground,12000 home gates, should be plenty of space for our excedent then shouldn't there?

Tbh, I dont see why we couldnt move our fans that sit/stand in the East End (wedlocks) right down into one corner and give saints an extra 500 or so tkts.

Generally our gates have been poor this season, but as our form improves I would expect our attendances to follow suit.

I would anticipate a gate of around 16,500 for this one....

To be honest, this probably covers every league club.

I get a good vibe reading that forum - most of them seem like a decent set of fans, more so than some fans forums I've read this season. I've never really thought much about Bristol City before, but if they stay up in place of Portsmouth, I'd love them indefinitely. :-)

bristol_city_fc, cheers for the information. Would I have any trouble do you think just turning up on the day and trying to buy one? Will I have to be registered on the database or anything? Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

I would suggest that you go in the Williams stand as this is where some of our more placid fans sit - sit on your hands if/when you score and you should be fine!

ive only read the "Southampton attendance" thread so, really? Everything i got from that has taken them from a team i really didnt have an opinion of to a team i dislike now. Im sure they;re gutted to hear that, but on that thread all it was was "yeah lets see what happens if they try" (re sitting in home end) "Leeds tried that we sent them packing" "sit down shut up" etc etc. ar$holes

Most of those Saints fans got charged/banned. Great policing :?

Yeah great policing. Seems to me they like nailing Saints fans although dare I say it not all Saints fans are whiter than white at the football. Nearly got thrown out of the side of pitch terrace at Fulham by the police for waving my index and middle finger at the Fulham fans when we equalised. All they did was bring out the dogs to the front of the away stand we were in. The jubilant mood we were in that day would never have led to any trouble fromo us unless provoked.

Is that where all the Gas fans just there to watch you get crapped on by Saints in general and RL in particular will be?

No no - obviously they will all be packing the away end at Southend United.....

I actually think it will be a pretty good game. We seem to have hit a bit of form but Saints are top of the league so hopefully it will be entertaining. I am sure Mr Lambert will be made most welcome on his return to Bristol :)

My score prediction: 1-1.

Not gonna be able to listen.

Am working Saturday evening (yeah there's a Golf Event coming up down here)

Would hope we turn up in the 1st half and play with a bit more bite - I loved the 1st half against Brighton - the "you know what, you're not even worth getting up a sweat" attitude as we controlled them - but would be concerned if we try and do that against a team with a bit of momentum.

Will be happy just to keep the bus rumbling onwards with a scrappy win by an odd goal, and save the tear them 25 new ones Away performance for you all know where.

Luckily the son is here on hols so will set him up to listen to DM & take control of the txt'ing of updates. EoA will either be working or his usual befuddled OSH self trying to txt with 20 fingers

"I've had a little look at the run we've got coming up, and obviously we want to win every game, but we're all definitely confident going into this game of getting three points." Rickie Lambert

Sounds like complacency creeping in to me.

That is one of the stupidest comments I've read on here.
