Bristol City V Saints Build Up

Also watching City now. They look decent and not afraid to pass the ball. I think we'll be able to pick them off though if we put enough pressure on them. Our big fit strong boys will sort them out

It doesn't matter how good they are as long as they "Gift" us two or three soft goals while we are playing crap and are sure to screw up our season eventually. ;)

Sorry, been reading to many of the other forums. :)

Derek McInnes is a good manager, he managed to get my second team St Johnstone promoted to the SPL and keep them safely mid-table with no money to spend and a shocking team. I think he'll do well with Brizzle this season, but can't see them beating us on Saturday, even with our temperamental away form.

maynard adomah (MoM) and killkenny were bristol city's best players today but last 20mins city were tired and happy to just defend adomah seem to be knackerd at 70mins and maynard was left isolated up top on his own for large parts. city can counter well but for me there defense is weak fontaine look shocking for the millwall game and i think will struggle up against lallana and lambert. still they should not be under estimated as they are now undefeated in last four winning three. it wont be a easy game and i would take a 1-0 win.

West Ham have a tricky game at home to Derby, while Boro have an even trickier game away to, uh, the other Boro... (Peterborough v Middlesbrough)

As long as we put in a good perfomance and manage to get the win, I can see us extending our lead at the top.

I often think the same as you, but frankly we just need to take care of our own performances and results without worrying or hoping about others.

Agreed, as long as we take care of what we do, 'control the controllables' as Adkins puts it, it really doesn't matter what anyone else does. I'd hope that's the exact attitude the players take (and it appears that they do).

Doesn't stop us fans from hoping the other teams mess their own chances up though...

Hmmmm, half way there what with me working in Salisbury anyway. Tempting, very tempting...

There was a tannoy announcement at SMS yesterday saying it was completely sold out, and not to bother travelling without a ticket. Normally I'd take that with a large pinch of salt, but us v the smackheads is probably the biggest game they'll have in brizzle this season so I tend to believe it.

No prediction from me as I always jinx us when I do, but I really hope Rickie sticks one or two away.

Oh, didn't even realise! Cheers for the heads up though... have to say, quite surprised if they sell out but then again, like you said, we're probably their nearest divisional rivals so it makes sense.

I'd suggest the 'sold out' bit is just aimed at our allocation as they don't want ticketless Saints fans travelling. Nothing on the Brizzol OS suggests a sell-out for home fans.

As for nearest divisional rivals, that goes to Cardiff, just 40 miles apart and a very spikey (English/Welsh) affair and usually 'bubble trips'. Reading would probably come next on their list along the M4.

Yeah, would be pretty surprised if it were a home sell-out. And whilst my geography is usually good, somehow I totally forgot Cardiff!

A decent PUB for the game is called Hen and Chicken BS3 1JF, good food, good beer, away fan friendly, plenty of FREE street parking, easy walk to ground etc, a few other pubs on same street

The footballgroundguide website says the Hen & Chicken should be given a "wide berth". The Cottage Inn at Baltic Wharf looks a like a good boozer, we're gunna head there. http://www.cottage.butcombe.com/

I think this will be a really tough game, despite their position in the league table they've really picked up under their new manager, unbeaten under him I believe. Going with a tight 2-1 win for Saints.

Looks a decent shout that pub. Hen and Chickens is def a home fans pub, would give that a swerve.

Saints fan in Bristol would love it if someone had a spare ticket for me. I have a season ticket but I stupidly missed getting a ticket as i kept putting it off!

Give me a PM if you have one spare. If not it will have to be the home end for me with a few people from work. It will be ****** though!

Bristol city have hit some form with their new manager (although wins against Millwall, Burnley, the two teams directly above them don't seem massivley impresive a draw at West ham is a good result). Watching them yesterday they were pretty good going forward looked a bit dodgy at the back I thought. I reckon our midfield is better than theirs though. A few weeks back I'd of been confident of an away win but I'd take a draw now they've found a bit of forum.

Hopefully Rickie will be right up for this one given his soft spot for the rovers side of town.

Banana skin is definitely the right word for this one, Bristol City have picked up some results of late, but if we want to be genuine title contenders this should simply be just another 3 points. I hate saying "I'll take a draw" at away games, but as I think we're good enough to win this (especially with the back-up of Barnard on the bench once more), I won't say it!

3-1 Saints, our favourite scoreline. (and a game I think Adam will rediscover his goalscoring form.)

Some Bristol fans I know reckon they will 'smash us'. I doubt it, as has been said their defence is very slow. Their midfield was also given loads of room by an average Millwall team - we won't allow them that.

Its a tricky game but we should come through if we play like we can. 1-3

Millwall aren't even average, they've done nothing since the wouldn't give us a few bob for Puncheon, preferring to blow it on some no-hoper from Bourbnemouth instead. Wouldn't be surprised if they get relegated especially as doncaser seem to be acquiring a few decent players albeit on short term loans.Beating Millwall means absolutely nothing.

The Cottage look a good pub but looking at the map isnt it the wrong side of the water making a very long walking route from the ground, like 3 miles according to Bing maps!?? Can any of the Bristol Saints confirm? Cheers

Looks like there is a small foot bridge over the river/canal quite close to the pub, which bing or google maps doesn't take ito account if you try walking directions. From the otherside of that footbridge it's about 15 minute walk according to google.

Nigel wouldn't have any problem with that ... he'd just walk across LOL

My boss is a City fan and we have a bit of a bet going on at work he still think we will beat them at there place as their defence is so weak his prediction was City 2-4 Saints which i don't think is a guess they are quite strong up front but their defensive frailties will leave them open to Lambert, Guly and Lallana getting a few goals. Lets hope we do win could do with the cash. COYR!

The Tobacco Factory is a good pub just up from there (went in on a non football day so may be home fans only) The Spotted Cow is an OK pub as well a bit further down the road! I think there is a Whetherspoons about a 5/10 min walk down that road as well! The London Inn looked like it was one to avoid on a match day as well (had the dodgiest pool table I have ever seen as well!!!)

City fans on their forum are saying their tickets are selling well, already a biggest attendance of the season.

Also a fair few of them saying they're lumping money on them to be promoted. They've had some good results, but they've come against questionable opposition (barring WHU). I watched their game at the weekend and they were only marginally better than Millwall, who were gash.

0-3
