Our first pen (2nd goal)

Albion fans are crying like girls that it was outside the box.
Think they probably have a point. Said it was at the time, Rickie sort of hinted he thought it was as well on Solent. Bet the Brighton boys are not saying much about the 3 other good pen shouts that weren't given though. What goes around comes around.

Could see from the Northam it was outside the box but thankfully for us the ref though otherwise. Fair cop IMO, as others have said the 2 pens we got made up for the blatant ones we didn't.

There were a couple of hand balls appeals in the first half. Were these good claims?

Ref was making up for the blatant one he ignored 5 minutes earlier imho.

you mean the Hammond one. Was a dive and yellow card deservedly. Was annoyed he didnt just round the keeper and score.

However there was also one after out first pen where Lambo was deffo barged off the ball as he was about to head in.

I saw the lino waving for a foul, but looked away before I saw the flag go accross his chest. I saw the ref give the pen and thought they were arguing about whether or not it was in the box. They say penalty decisions will even out over the course of a match, but I think with this one they evened out over the course of one game. We had at least one shout denied which was better than the first pen.

Even if they were all wrong. 1-0 to the Dagenham, so STFU moaning Brighton.

You see worse "dives" than that get pens on MOTD every week there was clear contact from the keeper on Dean.

It was outside the box. I will pay every seagull in the country £100 each if there is photo footage showing it was inside the box.

I am that confident that it was a monumental ****up by the Kingsland lino.

Never in a billion years was that a pen.

Chappie who was sent off was not, however, red-carded for the foul. It was chit-chat.

But it weren't a Pen. No feking way.

That said, we played them off the park and we were different class.

And all the Albion Boys n Girls I enjoyed the company of on the way home would not disagree..

We Won.

We are Top Of The League.

If the pen was outside the box, (looked inside from block 2 !!!!) then albion were unlucky.

However, any result other than a Saints win would have been a rank injustice.

They had NO efforts on target, and looked toothless even in a first half where they knocked the ball around pretty well.

Of course we deserved to win. We played them of the park.

But trust me, I will eat my hat if the first pen was anywhere near the box. It weren't.

Wasn't a penalty but then again neither was Murray's dive last season at St. Mary's. Albion fans celebrated that decision like they won the cup, only for KD to save it.

And that in a nutshell is why they should stop grizzling. They of all people should know to take what you give.

Are you having a laugh? Yes he played for it, but there was massive contact with the keeper, never in a million years was it a dive.

Blatant dive. He was down before the keeper got there and tucked both legs up like a pancaking aircraft.

Have you seen the replays? 100% massive contact on both legs with the keeper. He left his feet in looking for the penalty but it wasn't a dive.

Which was the worse decision - our (non-) pen or Blackburn's 2nd goal @ Wigan ?

Nothing wrong with Blackburn's goal - by know that trick should be known by everyone in professional football, so tough luck on Wigan that they let themselves be fooled...

Edit: ok, it seems the highlights I've been seeing didn't show the problem in this case: that Yakubu didn't touch the ball and make it spin at least one full round before leaving it for Pedersen - if that is the case, the goal should not have stood...

Unusually for me, I was in block 12 in itchen south and thought I had a pretty good view of it. I thought the Hammond one was a nailed on pen, and everyone around me seemed to think the same. Have to see it again on saintsplayer.

I hope you just watched the replays on tv and realised how wrong you were....and have the balls to admit it.

Interesting they didn't bother to show the blatant foul on Llalana in the box - 2 handed shove on his chest while he was dribbling the ball in the box,

or the penalty before it was re-taken.

Just seen it on TV.

Not a flying feking chance was that a Pen.

(that ref won't work again above conference level.....)

Still, we beat them Ghey Boys proper and proud.

How I wish this were true, however - whilst today was the worst refereeing performance i've seen - he was also responsible for the second worst, two seasons ago at home to Leeds. And one week later I saw him on MOTD.

I did, and it was still a dive. He was going down before the keeper even got there.

Agreed. But the incident after that, where Lambert was ungraciously shoved off the ball by the same guy who was guilty of pulling his shirt in the first half, was the most blatant example of a foul you will ever see.

It's fair to say the ref had a shocker today.

Agreed Scotty,

I watched the game on-line and saw replays. We had two very good shouts in the first half that the ref. ignored (on Lambert and Guly).

If the ref. thought he was " righting a wrong" by giving the Fonte pen., he had little choice with the second when Calderon clipped Lambert's heels.

I think I could have written up Poyet's moaning complaints before the kick-off. He's almost as bad as Ferguson & Son.

Don't know why people are surprised

That ref is always sh**tee ... but in equal measures of sh**tee for both sides

Our first Pen was miles outside the box... but we had two if not three other cast iron appeals turned down ... so justice was done overall

What the FF UK was the ref doing on our second penalty? He clearly blew the whistle... Lambo scored.... then he made him take it again coz the keeper supposedly wasn't ready ... utter shambles
