JackanorySFC Posted 19 November, 2011 Share Posted 19 November, 2011 If we did a "Christmas offer" for 1/2 season tickets at approx £200 I'm sure we could sell enough to almost sell out every game. Gutted I couldn't make it today but would definately get a 1/2 if they went on sale. Feelgood factor is better than last 25 odd years of watching Saints, get people in the habit of ST's and watch them renew next season! Thoughts? JackanorySFC Posted 19 November, 2011 Author Share Posted 19 November, 2011 Great idea, but may be less prfitable then letting people pay as they go . I thought that at first but I bet we only sell 25k tops against Blackpool on the 10th - madness if you ask me as we are playing amazing football! I genuinely think we could shift a huge amount of 1/2 ST's if people thought they were getting a deal, more than making up for revenue on a game by game basis. For what its worth I know it will never happen, at 9.05am on the opening game of last season I went to the ticket office with over £1200 in cash ready to buy our season tickets but was told my money wasnt welcome as they had stopped selling ST's the day before - I refused to get one this season because of this but I've been to most games - however my mates who I normally go with and wanted STs hardly go due to being self employed Plumbers/ window fitters etc that now would rather make £100 on a private job than spend £50+ on the p*** all day (even with our amazing football - times are hard). slickmick Posted 19 November, 2011 Share Posted 19 November, 2011 To many people would pay as you go at the start of the season to see if it was worth it come December. Great if we are doing well, not so if we struggle and play crap football.

alpine_saint Posted 19 November, 2011 Share Posted 19 November, 2011 The best season ticket in Britain, we have yet to drop a point ! Exactly. However, the answer to the question is that if NC offered half-season tickets, we would probably sell a few, but the idea is a non sequitur because we are financially safe, dont need the cash up-front, and ultimately the club will make more revenue with single tickets. StVince1966 Posted 19 November, 2011 Share Posted 19 November, 2011 think this would be a great idea capture the moment nicola! we would see an increase of 2k per game on average. thats how norwich started and our full every week only because of reasonable pricing and loyality to season ticket holders. Mowgli Posted 19 November, 2011 Share Posted 19 November, 2011 No - we need the pay on the day as much as the season tickets. Otherwise, the people who can never get in will simply follow another club. Better to have 12k season tickets and 40k going less regularly than the same 28k every week. That couldn't have been a problem when we were at The Dell as we doubled our crowds once we moved to SMS, so the support was obviously still there. I'd much rather have 28k season ticket holders, then you don't get people picking and choosing. You would have 31k for the likes of WHU and Brighton at home, as well as the likes of Peterborough and Hull on a cold Tuesday night.

JRM Posted 24 November, 2011 Share Posted 24 November, 2011 i don't think that is a good deal? £225 is for the chapel So for 10 games works out at £23 a match, which is what the price is anyway, so there is no financial benefit for paying up front now for 10 games that you can just wait and pay per game anyway. You don’t get any of the privileges for being a season ticket holder either, so wouldn’t qualify for a “renewal” next season, What are the benefits of buying this? um pahars Posted 24 November, 2011 Share Posted 24 November, 2011 Good U turn by the Club. Guess one small advantage is not having to sort a ticket every week, makes a bit of a difference. Or I'd imagine they're looking at the XSmas present market? um pahars Posted 24 November, 2011 Share Posted 24 November, 2011 Oh, didn't realise there was no financial benefit. Given that, I'm not sure that many will stump up just in case you can't make one match. Much better to gamble on a match by match basis (although of course you save yourself a bit of hassle). Just a small advantage of not having to pay the individual £3 admin charge. (£3 x 10 = £30 if you book one match at a time against £5 total admin charge with this scheme) Not huge saving though but if we are still up there for last few matches presumably tickets will be scarce. They won't stand to loose any money on it, the person who takes it up won't have the hassle of buying tickets every week and guaranteed a Skate ticket (home). If we're still at the top come the business end of the season, tickets will be hard to come by as well. Plus as I said in a previous post, it may get a few more bums on seats for the less glamorous ties that people wouldn't have otherwise attended hadn't it been for not already having a ticket. Frank's cousin Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 £35 quid cheaper than 10 individual tickets, no queing, mis a match and still £up, guarranteed tickets for Pompey and last game of season etc so if you can afford it, likely to go to all anyway, seems a good deal. As they said its not an ST, so no advantage for next year, but they are not selling it as such, just a way to guarrantees tickets for the last 10 games with a £35 saving overall so anyone who moans is frankly being stupid. As to how popular it will be? who knows and yes the club may have missed a marketing trick by offeing say half of next years ST renewal discount to anyone who takes up this offer... apart form that, whats the problem? Complete failure to qualify for an ST discount next season ? Reading, when top of the Championship, sold out half season STs as it guaranteed everyone an ST for the following season. We just don't seem interested in getting the money up front, and would rather run the gamble of hoping our form holds up to get people through at a higher cost. Also, the arbitrary £5 booking fee is a complete joke, as ever.
Sour Mash Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 Cr@p deal, but I guess they're expecting a combination of people getting carried away with our current form + big home crowds for Brighton/West Ham as well as the Xmas market accounting for a few sales. Don't think anyone is moaning? just pointing out that what some have referred to as a good deal isn't and doesn't offer any of the benefits of a half season ticket? Probably why this is here; Please note that this is not a half season ticket, whilst Southampton FC standard terms and conditions apply. It's a great offer because it guarantees you a specific seat for some of the huge games coming up...I reckon we'll see another 5 or 6 sell-outs at least. Kingsland Red Posted 25 November, 2011 Share Posted 25 November, 2011 After getting fed up with the fare on offer on the pitch and everyone around us being given tickets on cheap deals, we discarded our season tickets for the two seasons in Division 1. The time I wasted either on the internet or queueing at the ticket office, particularly at the end of last season, would suggest that even with no financial benefit, the deal is a good one. Not that I care, we got our season tickets back for the same seats this season, having sat on them anyway during the Div 1 days.

I like probably most exiled fans, get stung for a booking fee every time I buy tickets and if I could get to more than the 3 or 4 games I am able to, I would definitely take advantage. BTW 10 x 22.50 is £225 not £230 so your overall saving is £30 not £25.
