One of your academy coaches, Anthony Limbrick, was a guest at my daughter's wedding in July. He had tried to keep his employment secret, but he was outed. I think he was genuinely surprised to find all the Town fans there, perhaps two dozen of us, all saying the same thing - that you were just that bit better than us and deserved to go up. He is a very fine fellow and was particularly interested to see how Oscar Gobern does.

I'm pleased to see that both clubs have carried on with their good runs - in your case blinding - and hope that both will be promoted, automatically, in May. There has been a lot made of Town's 42 match unbeaten league run, which, had it all been done in the same season, would be worth 90 points. Our last 46 league games would have yielded 96, including the home win v Brighton in December 2010 and our last defeat, at St Mary's on 28 December. But I wonder if you realise that Saints have amassed 104 points from their last 46 games, including, of course, 16 matches in the higher division (32 wins, 8 draws and 6 defeats). You might actually manage 104 this season. Hope so. Whatever else you do, beat Brighton, Peterborough and especially L***s (well done on the opening day).

Good luck from someone who follows his team win or draw.

Good luck for the season mate, enjoyed my visit to your town last season even though we were sh*t!. Had a good few beers with some of your lads in the pub by the station. Thought you were unlucky not to go up given your great run. Hope you run away with it this season. I'd be happy for us to take Jordan Rhodes off your hands. ;)

I'm a regular on your DATM and I have grown to like you guys.

I shall not say who i am but 2 years ago it hurt me when you beat us to the playoffs and last season you pushed us all the way.

I follow all your results now but what I must add is your long unbeaten run is what's going to cost you as draws hold you back to much.

Adkins rarely likes to draw which means its either win or lose.

At the end of the day 2 wins and a defeat is better than a win and two draws.

Good luck & thanks for the kind words.

I bumped into some Huddersfield fans during the summer out in Austria and they were also very complimentary towards us.

They're a good club with a decent fan base. We also had a cracking away day there last season despite the football, the boozer at the station was great.

I recall explaining to someone our situation last April and how we had to do x and y to get auto promotion. I then also had to say that Huddersfield were behind us, but all they do is win, so we cannot let up on the gas pedal.

Good for you guys and I hope you go up as well. You certainly deserved it more than P'boro last year.

Cheers mate, last seasons battle was great and we seemed to have fostered a mutual respect, it helped having Brighton as the team to dislike. However I know I'm not alone in watching out for your scores this season and I really hope you do it this year, especially as I work with a load of Charlton fans. I'll be in the home end on the 28 but rooting for your mob.

Went to watch your game at MK Dons (saw the sh*te served up at your place when alan lee did a job on us), convinced we were going to lose at Brighton the next day. You enjoyed a bit of a smash and grab but could tell you had the resilience to push us all the way. Spoke to some of your lot on the way back to Bletchley -and the banter was lively but in good nature.

You have a good set-up -(what happened with Clark and Leicester in the end?)- and a great chairman. Hopefully you don't become blinded by staying unbeaten and err on the side of caution when games call for you gambling and you secure auto this time. Still, more than happy to take Rhodes off your hands in Jan...

I think that I speak for all Town fans in saying that we don't really want to be the new Southend.

In reply to an earlier poster, Oscar is injured at the moment but has played well in central midfield in a number of games, especially at Sheffield United where he scored our third.

I take the points made about drawing too many, but there is a lot to be said for not losing. We have had 24 wins and 18 draws since we lost at Southampton and 9 wins and 8 draws so far this season. More than 2 points a game ought to be enough. but then our 87 points last season would have been good enough for automatic in every season since 1993. We have another Brighton this season (Charlton) but thankfully no Southampton. Hopefully Sheffield Wednesday will be Huddersfield to our Saints.

I think the Southend comments were refering to our 'special' friendship we have with them. Therefore, it was a compliment...in a way

That's right. We had an internet Love-In with them the season before last.

I do have a soft spot for both Huddersfield and Southend now, so please don't take offence to that remark :)

Southend fans were superb, absolutely great fans. Huddersfield pushed us all the way, you kept us very honest and you did it in a very respectful way, so I can't help but keep an eye out for your results - in fact, you're down to win on my accumulator this weekend, so do me a favour please!

Good luck to you!

Good luck with promotion to the championship,if Jordan Rhodes keeps fit and Lee Novak scores his share with your defence you should be okay.[ I went to the old Leeds Road, with a mate who was a Town fan],for the first 2 games of the 1970/71 season]. You had Frank Worthington and a few more decent players that season, but were still unfortunately relegated.

I think you'd be better off losing one so you can concentrate on winning....let me explain. I can't help but think that the unbeaten run is, potentially, causing you to drop points. The players may be keener on protecting their run rather than risking it a bit to try and convert draws into wins. Just a view - nothing to really base it on.

I would like to see Huddersfield go up this season. However their unbeaten run has to be the most tedious unbeaten run ever.

I'm sure some of their fans would rather lose a game or 2 rather than draw regularly with the likes of Walsall at home...

Disagree with this. Sure you want to win every game and are disappointed drawing some that on paper you should win. However, drawing is always second best to winning and staying unbeaten breeds an air of invincibility. The longer the run, the more belief the players, management and supporters have that they wont be beaten. It is a truly remarkable run Huddersfield have put together. They definitely deserved to go up last season and hopefully will this.

When saints were called off against Rochdale me and about 6 lads went to Bournemouth v huddersfield at the time we wanted a Huddersfield win or draw as bmouth were getting away from us a bit. Cadamateri equalised in the last min and we all celebrated the goal. As it turned out that point could of cost us promotion. Funny old game.

I like Huddersfield and hope they get promoted but as far as the unbeaten run is concerned I have 2 comments:

1. despite this they are not top of the league

2. it ignores their defeat in the play-offs - arguably more important than all 46 of their unbeaten games

Can someone please explain how losing a playoff final doesn't count in their unbeaten run? Playoffs are directly linked to the league, the most important part. The playoff final is the most important single league game, and they lost. So why do people keep saying they're unbeaten?

To save a lot of bother why not pick six teams from a hat and hold the play-offs in July/August. That'll save all the trouble of playing all those league games just to finish third

The play-offs are a big con designed specifically to relieve the football fan of even more of his funds by both the FL and television.

If a team finish third in their league then they have earned promotion and should not have to surrender it to a team that finishes sixth, on a one-off game of chance, as did Cardiff and Blackpool two seasons ago and indirectly, eventually cost the Cardiff manager his job.

Amen.
