Never really understood why "******" is considered to be a racist word! although i wouldnt use it, surely its a mish mash of negro and niger (river) how it came to be viewed as an insult i'll never know! same goes for "paki" surely a shortened version of Pakistan? I wouldnt be at all offended if someone called me a brit!

cue 10 pages of insults aimed at me!

I suggest this goes on your list for Santa :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Roots-Collection-Original-Anniversary/dp/B000W70GY6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321878583&sr=8-1

Have you ever bothered to look into it? All words start off as some kind of description, it's not the original etymology that makes it offensive. In this case it was originally used as an ethnic slur towards black slaves in colonial America, coming to signify their lower status.

I'll help you out: http://bit.ly/vnH4b

As with most offensive words (spastic, queer, paki etc) ****** has innocuous origins (meaning people living around the Niger river). The offence arises not because the word in itself is derogatory but because it takes on negative connotations through its usage by people as an insult. You can end up with perverse results, like imo the positive 'handicapped' which really means carrying an extra burden losing favour to the downbeat -disabled ('nothing you can do mate, its broken).

Just as bad are the torch wavers - quick to condemn older people because they dont use the current word du jour - but who themselves live lives of unimpeachable apartheid.

My boy has just come home from school well exicted.

Seems that Gus Poyet & The Premiership trophy were visiting local schools in Poole today. He said that Poyet was great, signed his football and had a chat with him about Saints. My boy told him that he was a supporter and at the Saints Brighton game. Poyet said, Saints deserved to be top, and will go up. My boy also asked him if Adkins left would Gus like to manage Saints, He's reply was " I dont think so". His mate then said "what about Chelsea"? and Poyet replied "absolutely, yes tomorrow if possible".

He said Poyet was fantastic, so perhaps in private he's a decent bloke.

I reckon he'll go to Spurs when Harry gets the England job.

I reckon he'll go to Spurs when Harry gets the England job, or is no longer available due to starting a custodial sentence following a high profile court case for tax problems....

Thats a decent shout. Wouldnt amaze me at all, especially as 'Arry and Storrie have already been overheard enquiring about the odds on this...

Just varied it a bit for you chaps.

Oh yes, I too can see Poyet p!ssing off to spurs when the chance arises. Chelsea is probably a step too far for him in the mind of Abramovic etc.
