NA: I've said all along that we want to be in the race come January - we are leading the race at the moment with nine [sIC] games left to go and we want to make sure that we are still in the top ten come January.

C'mon Nige one thing not getting carried away but top 10 aint acceptable from our position.

24 points up for grabs to January (8 games not 9) and we are 14 points clear of 11th spot. So if Peterborough (currently 11th) won 4 and drew 4 of their 8 games (16 pts) which woudl be incredibly good form and we lost 7 of our 8 games and won one they would still not catch us. Admittedly that is start of January.

He is saying as in that being in the top 10 come January was the aim from the start of the season. If we are top still, we will have achieved his aim.

I don't think that was a new prediction, but an 'I told you so' from his original prediction that we would be in the race for a top-10 spot in Jan. We're winning that race, thus proving him right, which is what he is trying to say in your quote, whelk.
