Brighton game Police want our help

If they ever ban the word 'c**t' from grounds then I'll be done with football.

Football authorities need to get a grip, this is just pathetic.

Yes you are pathetic

Most people go to football matches to watch the game not abuse other watchers

As a gesture of our tollerance I think the players should do a pre match lap of the pitch to this. They could even choreograph it with moves and stuff.

hate that song.

whenever I hear it I just think of midgets, trannies, people in leather, fatties, people on x factor and other weirdos.

Whilst I'd imagine it must be pretty miserable being a Brighton fan having to endure the same old repetitive wind up, it is just banter, albeit a rather unpleasant strain (ohh er). It is what it is. I wouldn't do it, others would. Nothing the police can do (or should do) about it.

PATHETIC!!! Well probably be asked not to sing 'you skate bastards' at fratton Park cz it upsets fish mongers or something..... they gna arrest people for singing 'you fat bastard' too? I hate Political correctness most of the time! A bit of banter never hurt anyone, excpet those not clever enough to understand it as that!

Actually feel banta is fine but anything like racism, homophoba ect is a disgrace and should not be allowd, don't want any child of mine thinking it's acceptable. Everyone should be reminded that there are camera's and if they are cought starting this behaviour (video will be reviewed I'm sure) they face a ban.

Lovin saints but do feel a bit rubbish when some idiots start swaring out loud when kids are about.

If people don't want their kids hearing swearing out loud they can sit in the chapel / family section (although if it's anything like the Junior Saints I used to sit in when I was a nipper that won't help) or just don't go. That's what happens at football, people swear and shout.

Dune and Maverick sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Simple and effective.

We could always get a racist and a homophobic one in all in one go..

"muslims think you should die"*

* this is clearly a joke, dont be offended and if you are we can shake hands at the end of the thread.

As a reaction I accept people to sware out loud but when someone goes on and on can help but feel he must have some sort of learning disability, I know lots of people who would love to take there family but can't be dealing with coming out with there kids thinking swearing must be cool because the idiot behind is.

You are right of course about the family stand which is much better BUT I'm saying people avoid taking kids because of the society we now live in... which has changed alot since the 70s/80s and is far less tolerant of any sort of discrimination, which I belive is a good thing.

Hang on, what happens if they start singing 'you're too ugly to be gay'? Surley thats heterophobic and uglyist all in one chant, I could feel extremely upset if they did that, I want them to hate me because were above them in the league, not because I'm straight and ugly!

Learning disability? With your standard of written English? People swear at football and let off a bit of steam. 99% of it does no actual harm to anyone, so leave it be.

Stonewall's top 3 gay-friendly employers

1. Lloyds TSB

2. Hampshire Constabulary

3. Brighton & Hove City Council

Makes you wonder - did any Brighton fans really complain after their last game down here? Why would they? It happens in every game they play and I certainly can't remember anything particularly bad being sung at all. Not saying Hants Police are making this up or exaggerating this at all. Well actually I am.

If you need to insult someone who has insulted you, and you choose to call them a b*****d or a c**t the insulting noun really does need a descriptive adjective in front of it to give it adequate strength. Perhaps the police could issue a list of which descriptive adjectives are legal and which are not.

The chant on 23 seconds was absolutely disgraceful. How some people could find this funny is beyond me.

hahaha just watched this, what a funny news report, i love how the reporter puts on a serious voice when reading out the "homophobic" songs such as we can see you holding hands'

gosh, what shocking homophobia to sing that.

Funny people think it's an issue about freedom of speech etc. Why should it be any different to any other place? If you walk the street and swear, fine. People might judge you, most won't care, but generally I don't see any problem with it. But if you aggressively swear AT someone, it's a bit different. Intent is everything really.

On that note, I'm sure singing about gay people isn't necessarily due to hatred or meant that nastily, but that doesn't make it alright. I don't think so many would walk down the street making anti-gay comments. I don't really understand the obsession so many people seem to have with gay people anyway. Maybe a religious thing, or with football fans maybe it's some desperate attempt to seem really manly. Clearly everyone knows the fact that the gay men of Brighton desire nothing more than a fat, bald angry man in a tight football shirt.

Imagine if by some weird statistical anomaly every Brighton fan there was gay. Why would it matter exactly? There must be loads of gay saints fans too. Must we all obsess over where people put their genitals? Homophobia almost seems similar to kids pretending to hate the girl they actually fancy.

Adrian, no offence mate, but the way you are moaning about this you sound like a bender, what is offensive about we can see you holding hands other than it isn't that funny?

The vast majority of people posting on this thread are just having a laugh, all fairly good humoured. I can't remember anything genuinely "hateful" being sung to Brighton's support at any of the games I've been to against them. Don't get so worked up by it all.

Actually, Brighton probably have just as many homophobic fans as us, so at least there is the consolation of winding them up with the thing they hate the most.

We could sing this and really stir up a hornets nest!!

"we hate gays and We hate blacks

we dont think blatter should get the sack

We are Southampton we hate everyone

and our bigotted chants will carry on"

Now that really would get Ricky boy excited!!!
