doddisalegend Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/9370655.Police_wants_Saints_fans__help_to_beat_homophobes/ Any comments ,I think this has been going on for years, why start trying to do fans for it now?Or should they? Brighton fans have started making offical complaints at matches about homophobic chanting I believe. The reason they're trying to do something about it is becuase people have complained IMO. Mind you it wouldn't hurt for us to come up with something more orginal to chant at them anyway.
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Supt Rick Burrows said "If it’s large crowds chanting we’ll put something over on the tannoy".
dellish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 soon we will be bound and gaged in our seats . its all banter ffs .
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Attention Attention, would all supporters please stop singing gay songs to the Brighton fans.
Wadge Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Attention Attention, would all supporters please stop singing gay songs to the Brighton fans. That made me LOL
Sour Mash Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Ha ha "hate based chanting". Not really hate based, more general p**s taking. Look out for the police cameraman who will no doubt be hidden in the gang way entrance around block 34 filming the Northam, sort of petty thing they'd love to ban people for.
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Is laughing at fat people and the gingers still OK?
ericofarabia Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 So, if we all went crying to The Police saying that those nasty yobs at Notarf Krap were calling us scummers - would they take any action? TBH you couldn't ask for anything more Hate Based Chanting than what they dish out for our visit as they froth at the gills scummer this scummer that. Totally pathetic, and asking for trouble by expecting people to shop each other over something so petty.
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Attention Attention, would all supporters please stop singing gay songs to the Brighton fans. Except "Sing if your glad to be gay" of course Whatever happened to Tom Robinson anyway? Oh yes he got married..................
dubai_phil Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Hmm dilemna So if I sang "You'd get nicked back at my home town" to them which is a true fact, would I be liable to arrest for stating the truth? This PC stuff is Sooooooo confusing
latter day saint Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 (edited) funny that i can't see any police going in & making arrests on this video [video=youtube;UVDr-H-iAXc] ff to about a minute in Edited 17 November, 2011 by latter day saint
JRM Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 On a serious note, it was hampshire police who made arrests at Skates v Spurs a few years ago for the songs directed at Sol Campbell, most of the spurs end were singing it, but they filmed a few , grabbed a few out and had them up in court, a few of them got a FINE and a BANNING ORDER, show's what a f*cked up game this is now where the police have far too much power, there are pop songs that have more offensive lyrics that that!! and how can "we can see you holding hands" be considered "hate based" it is only offensive if Brighton fans deem their town being associated with homosexuals as a negative thing. bunch of morons the lot of them. hope we smash them 5-0
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Look at all these criminals. (I know it's been posted before but still makes me chuckle) And while we're on the subject where does this leave the STEEEEVE chant?
Dimond Geezer Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 As long as you shake hands with them afterwards, there wont be a problem.
alpine_saint Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Attention Attention, would all supporters please stop singing gay songs to the Brighton fans.
View From The Top Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 As long as you shake hands with them afterwards, there wont be a problem. Bravo sir.
JRM Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 what about other songs that pick up on geographical stereotypes? waving money at the scousers? you dirty northern b*stards?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Oh I have been trying to learn the words and everything.
JRM Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 is calling a player a wotsit a hate crime towards ginger people?
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 And what about the old ooooooooooooooh you fat bastard?
paulwantsapint Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Is the abuse Dean Hammond will get on sat considered hateful if so can all saints fans complain to the nearest steward or copper But the gay stuff is boring & unoriginal same as small town in skates ville or p**y up P****Y
JRM Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 And what about the old ooooooooooooooh you fat bastard? That is clearly a hate crime against fat people. Anyone doing that and I'll be dialling 999
70's Mike Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 this OB Chief is obviously looking for rapid promotion he is so PC , except for negioating the way we are being forced to travel to Fratton. will "does your male friend know your here" be acceptable.

I think they prefer the term 'partner.'
The9 Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Jesus, there's a big difference between singing "we can see you holding hands" which does nothing other than illustrate that Saints fans are aware that Brighton has a significant gay population, and actually committing a hate crime, which would involve genuinely threating behaviour. We'd probably be on dodgy ground if the lyrics after "wash your mouth out son, go get your father's gun and shoot the..." were amended, but other than that, there's nothing "homophobic" and there's no "hate crime". It's a sad indictment of how stupid some people are that they can't tell the difference.
The Cat Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 So if I sang "You'd get nicked back at my home town" to them which is a true fact, would I be liable to arrest for stating the truth? No, you'd just get weird looks from everyone around you for singing in the Chapel.
The Cat Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 I find it much more insulting that people sing we're a "small town in Pompey" than I would if I was accused of being gay.

Turkish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 That is clearly a hate crime against fat people. Anyone doing that and I'll be dialling 999 Especially after Mark Bright raised this point today when discussing the Sepp Blatter comment. "You ate all the pies" is offensive he says. I am glad it is not just me who is sickened by this vile chants.
Turkish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 considering Brighton is also the most easy place to score smack in the Uk (i've heard) would songs about this be offensive to their smack heads?
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Couldn't we flip it on it's heard and start chanting "I am what I am?"
Turkish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 Couldn't we flip it on it's heard and start chanting "I am what I am?" "you come from Brighton, you know what you are"
JRM Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 considering Brighton is also the most easy place to score smack in the Uk (i've heard) would songs about this be offensive to their smack heads? you can get all sorts there, i've seen Quadrophenia.
Turkish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 you can get all sorts there, i've seen Quadrophenia. "rockers kicked your f*cking heads in"
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 "you come from Brighton, you know what you are" That is brilliant.
JRM Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 "you come from Brighton, you know what you are" i'll joing in with that Turkish.
Turkish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 /\ theres got to be some witty chant we can come up with related to Quadrophenia, smack, and Leslie Ash getting pounded up an alley way...
Pedro Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 I reckon its the OB who are upset, loads from Hampshire to Brighton for the Gay Pride march.
scotty Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 /\ theres got to be some witty chant we can come up with related to Quadrophenia, smack, and Leslie Ash getting pounded up an alley way... I wouldnt have minded pounding leslie ash up the back alley tbh.
dune Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 I reckon its the OB who are upset, loads from Hampshire to Brighton for the Gay Pride march. Stonewall's top 3 gay-friendly employers 1. Lloyds TSB 2. Hampshire Constabulary 3. Brighton & Hove City Council http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/7815419.stm#blq-main
Turkish Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 I wouldnt have minded pounding leslie ash up the back alley tbh. Me neither. She was fit back in the day. Shame it was a visiting mod and not a local Brighton lad that did it though, they were all off chasing the dragon or playing cock jousting.* * that was a joke, please dont arrest me Rick Burrows for homophobic comments on a football forum
scotty Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 ..and fwiw, I for one will certainly be taking Hampshire Constabulary's advice on board. If they dont want us to sing anything untoward about the shirtlifting, puddle-jumping, interior-decorating uphill gardeners from the gay capital of Britain then who am I to argue.
stkev7 Posted 17 November, 2011 Posted 17 November, 2011 If they ever ban the word 'c**t' from grounds then I'll be done with football. Football authorities need to get a grip, this is just pathetic.
