dronskisaint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/15112011/63/jack-made-right-move-cork-snr.html For those who don't remember he was a Wimbledon and Sheffield Utd forward..reasonably prolific as the original Dons came through the leagues. I thought I'd read that he has a connection with Brighton..not sure if it's coaching or punditry but it's praise ahead of the weekend so bound to be a little muted if I'm right. Boris Karloff Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Hardly a ringing endorsement, bit of a strange quote tbh. Doesn't matter, as long as Jack's happy. We probably don't hoof it into the box enough to keep his dad truly happy.

I read it as though maybe his dad advised him to go to Brighton but Jack chose Saints and he was grudgingly acknowledging its worked out "at the moment". S-Clarke Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks that article implies Brighton tried to make an illegal approach for him? Nope, it came across exactly the same to me... The approach came from Seagulls chairman Tony Bloom's brother Darren, who spoke to Cork's dad - former Wimbledon star Alan. "I had a quiet chat with Darren," Oh well, at least we got him!
Turkish Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 to be fair he isn't going to come out and say "Jack has made a right f*ck up joining Southampton, i told him not to but he wouldn't listen" is he.
DanW Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 No, but if he felt that way the right thing to do would be to not say anything at all. So it's nice that he did say something.
scotty Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I like the poyet quote from the link on there; "He added: "They are top for a reason. They are the best team in the league and they've been outstanding at home. We are going to go there and play." lmfao, just like they did last season? Mowgli Posted 16 November, 2011 Share Posted 16 November, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks that article implies Brighton tried to make an illegal approach for him? you'll probably have to explain to me how an apporach for a player who is being offloaded by his club but is yet to sign a contract with anyone is illegal. I think Alan is doing exactly what he wanted Walcott's dad and Oxo's to do. Shut up and let his son (a grown adult) make his own mind up. Top man! Legod Third Coming Posted 16 November, 2011 Share Posted 16 November, 2011 to be fair he isn't going to come out and say "Jack has made a right f*ck up joining Southampton, i told him not to but he wouldn't listen" is he. Mainly because with us in our current position, such a statement would see him wheeled off to the nearest asylum...

Cheers, thanks...I began to think I'd imagined it - and it does add perspective to his words in that case.
