david in sweden Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 is surely due about now. Three postings today on totally unexpected threads about unknown / unlikely player signings...and tabloid guessing. I can't names names and I am definitely, not ITK.....except I still want to see an extra striker and Hooiveld... PLUS another CH type. (Jaidi out for the duration...and Seaborne not even back in the squad..YET! so who have you considered ?
Monk Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Can understand people would ask why, where would he fit in etc? Would love to see Snodgrass brought in. Weakens another team, we obviously strengthen and it allows a bit of rotation and Guly to move up top.

Want to be safe. Same goes for the extra striker....
Marsdinho Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I imagine we may go back in for one of our summer targets... Baldock, has gone to WHU Sharpe will stay at Donny, or if he leaves, he will go to Ipswich. IMHO. Sordell Maynard Rodrigues As for center backs, god knows, our targets in this area weren't reported as much as our targets up front.. Gorkss has gone to Reading. Um... norwaysaint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I think it would be a mistake to try too hard to bring in players in January, as long as we sign Jos. Would we want to replace jos or Fonte, who we are generally happy with, or are we looking for somebody of the calibre that would suit sitting on the bench in the championship? That's not great preparation for building a team fit for the prem. Martin is good cover for this league and eventually there will be Seaborne, plus whoever is up and coming. The same up front. Do we want to replace Rickie, Guly, Connolly and Barnard? Or do we want a new striker who would be happy on the bench? We could probably replace one of them if we got somebody really good, but Maynard and Rodrigues? Are they really worth bringing in just before we get promoted? As a promoted team wouldn't we attract better than that? I think it would be a mistake to fill the squad with Championship level back-up players and then find ourselves with too many squad members just when we can attract better from home and abroad again. The squad's good and we've hardly been stretched have we? The only players worth bringing in now would have to be Premier league quality, not players just in case somebody gets injured, we should try to cover that with loan players who might play their hearts out, hoping to be signed properly when we get promoted. anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Think we need to have a gander at loaning ex-Championship players who're currently at Prem clubs but not getting a look-in. Therefore: Simeon Jackson But also would quite like us to go for........ .....Charlie Austin! I know he's not that popular amonst Saints fans but he is sharp as a tack and a real fox in the box. MarkSFC Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 assuming we sign jos I think we will sign players who are young and still not at their peak but in the opinion of NA et all wil develop quickly into top players. The names i would love to see us sign are Sordell or Rodriguez, Clyne and a CB. These players would put suitable pressure on the team without obvious disquption and be important over the next few years.
Golden Balls Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Would love to see us try and sign Snodgrass as I think he could step up to the prem. A striker like Maynard or JayRod would be good And obviously Jos
sambosa75 Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I think Rhodes is off to the Prem... Newcastle are sniffing about and if rumours are to be believed so are Man Utd... I'd happily take Sordell. Big, pacy and powerful. A bit like Welbeck. He's young but has everything needed to be a good Premier League striker. I'd also do my utmost to get Big Jos signed up and another centre back for back-up on loan would be great. Who though, I don't know. I'll leave that to Nige. Kelly Smunt Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Just seen that Chris Martin has joined Palace on loan, I think that's a good signing for them. Barnard is still unknown at this level and I see no reason why he can't score goals so maybe it's not imperative we bring another striker in. Bearsy Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 There is no way The Who CDAJFU in January. Daltrey = too old, Moon = too dead, Townshend = no better than Guly.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Indeed, cracking signing. Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I think we really should be looking at players who can improve us in the Premier League. The names mentioned above (apart from Maynard) I don't think will do that. You think of players who were bought by teams like Wigan (Victor Moses) who aren't good enough, and the above are poor versions of them.
Bearsy Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Is he dead too? I originally dismissed Entwhistle because we're fairly well-stocked for left backs, but if he's dead then probably not worth pursuing at this time. Just goes to show how ridiculous this whole thread is, even Michael Owen would be a more realistic signing than dead rockers. That said, in NA we trust and I will support his decision if he wants to sign a corpse although I can't see him getting in the team on current form and doubt he would be happy with the bench. West End Saint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 We need Jos on the Bus f'sure & I would like to see another centre back come in Jahdi & Seabourne are going to play anytime soon so we need some cover. We have to buy a forward Jordan Rhodes Billy Sharpe Charlie Austin would all be good signings. So for me 3 in total Jos +
SNSUN Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 According to the Norwich fan at work he is pretty gash. He's a good lower league striker. A natural goalscorer although apparently has a bit of an attitude problem. Simeon Jackson took his spot, and is probably the better player, but still a good signing for Palarse. S-Clarke Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 A pacey front man, who could also provide cover down the flanks. Sordell has played on the flanks before as one example. and Jos signed up. That's pretty much all I'd do.

Saint 76er Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 We might test Celtic's resolve with a dual bid for Jos and Gary Hooper and could throw Punch in the mix plus cash, maybe around 2.5 or 3 mill. Rumoured names that won't go away are JayRod and Nat Clyne. Think they may see these two as PL ready, so could push hard for them in January although unwilling sellers will want big bucks. Apparently the Sun are linking us with Grant McCann of Posh, maybe cos he's ex Scunny but he would be an experienced head for the run in, don't know about PL quality though. Boyd from them would be a nice signing though.
DanW Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 This summer we brought in 4 players. The Jack Cork situation was something we knew about or hoped for, but the other three? Danny Fox was heard of, but not suspected as a target. De Ridder and Hooivelt were two players that everyone said "who?" Thus I think we'll be bringing in someone we haven't heard of and don't suspect, which would be fine in my book. If it's a guy from a Swedish side or something then maybe it means we got good value for the signing and thus is great.
Saint_Ash Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 One thing I love about the current team and success is that I look forward to the transfer window now instead of dread our best players being touted around. I think some of the rumours next month will be pretty good if we're still top come Christmas.

Badger Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 Would be a great signing but Richardson and Butterfield are doing a good job. beavis17 Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 would cost a bit & i think a few prem teams are interested. If we did bid £5.5 million for Rodriguez then money isn't a problem if the player is good enough. Yes a lot of big clubs are interested but he would be more likely to play here should we get to the Prem..

david in sweden Posted 17 November, 2011 Author Share Posted 17 November, 2011 Jordan Rhodes his name keeps appearing but not in the media ? If we sign a striker, we need one who will score goals (ala Lambert, Guly) £5 million+ for JayRod sounds a lot of money for someone with only an average scoring record. Lallana is already better than that, and he cost nothing !
Mowgli Posted 17 November, 2011 Share Posted 17 November, 2011 Sordell, Jos, Clyne and Oyenuga will do nicely for now. Probably only two of those will happen with another name not yet on any fans radar....
