Turkish Posted 14 November, 2011 Share Posted 14 November, 2011 The Brazil 1970 team, anything less is a lack of ambition.
sammysaint Posted 14 November, 2011 Share Posted 14 November, 2011 And I still think Lallana is the closest English player to David Silva in style and composure. Sounds crazy to outsiders, and i'm not saying he's near as good, but I can't think of many, if any other English players with that skill level, technique and composure on the ball. Maybe Joe Cole on top form, but England preferred to concentrate on what he couldn't do, same with MLT. I imagine if Silva were English we'd focus on him being small and a poor tackler. Strange there wasn't so much criticism of midfielders like Batty or Ince for being technically poor donkeys. Agree Lallana is the championship version of silva, i think at 22 and despite his lack of prem experience, he could walk into any prem club outside the top 8 and be one of there best players. Something about that lad, I don't think it would take more than a couple of months for him to settle in and rise to the level needed to get regular run outs in a top 6 team.
