spyinthesky Posted 13 November, 2011 Share Posted 13 November, 2011 If Kelvin or Bart are injured for a FA Cup game, I wonder who goes on the bench, as our well respected 'Third Choice' keeper was presumably cup tied whilst playing for Bromley yesterday. Whilst getting in a loan keeper should be OK for League games, it may be more difficult for FA Cup games as other teams may not want to cup tie their own keepers. Maybe Nigel fancies dusting off the gloves!! btw has young Tommy still got a year and a half left on his 5 year deal?? What an inspired signing!! Turkish Posted 13 November, 2011 Share Posted 13 November, 2011 We have a similar dilemma up front. If Lamert, Guly, Barnard, Connolly an Forte get injured who would play up front with Hoskins and Doble out on loan and might be cup tied? Maybe Jason Dodd could fill in there!! There are a number of youth keepers, Dovey, Mowthorpe and Johns. In any case the FA Cup isn't until January for Saints, and that happens to be when the transfer window opens and the loan window remains open until March. Charlie Wayman Posted 14 November, 2011 Share Posted 14 November, 2011 The real worry is that after 5 years or so Bialkowski has been unable to demonstrate his sufficient worth to oust an aging old codger like Davies especially as youth is very much vaunted by the present management. Let's be honest, Davies van makes a few howlers that are clearly age related. This is what should worry us - if he's good enough, he's old enough! Nobody has come in for him either and in this age with Hart already a veteran between the sticks for the PL's top club and his country surely Bilakowski should have made it into saint sfirst team by now? Time to move him on and new lad brought forward onto the bench... For sure, Davies loves to have Bialkowski as his deputy as there in no threat whatsoever to his tenure in the saints goal. Don't give me crap about 40 year old GK's in the PL either, as Friedel and Schwarzer are from a different planet.

Inspired signing, my ar*e ..we got conned by Spu*s AGAIN! It was a sideshow to the Bale deal and he was boasted as a " future England keeper...".....gamekeeper maybe! I wouldn't want to have an untried keeper with his record suddenly thrown into a key game. Don't know what other players think of him, but fans who have met him (in nightclub bars ) say he is "trouble "... with a big attitude problem. Not a good thing in the dressing room. Where will he go after? ..is not really our problem. It seems he hasn't gone out of his way to get in above Bart, and (for someone who will have been paid for 5 years for doing nothing ..by the time his contract runs out) - * frankly my dear ..I don't give a da*n ! I'd prefer to advance one of the Academy lads instead. * (apologies to Clark Gable) Edited 15 November, 2011 by david in sweden

Northant Saint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I was thinking today. Bart is extremely loyal. He hasn't had much first team footy yet he is still with us. david in sweden Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I was thinking today. Bart is extremely loyal. He hasn't had much first team footy yet he is still with us. Will he even be our number one eventually? most players who don't play regularly and have a long contract are pretty loyal, they have no choice. on the other hand , I expect that Bart is pretty pi**ed at not getting games, but if he's a good club man , he'll wait and take an opportunity when it comes. what is MOST important is the question of his capabilities when we get promoted. Do you think he's Premiership material ..No don't bother to answer that. I think we all know the answer to that, especially when most Prem. clubs have one ..if not two, International goalies. Redondo Saint Posted 15 November, 2011 Share Posted 15 November, 2011 I saw Dovey play for Eastleigh when I was over last week. He looked very good and made some great saves. His loan to EFC makes great sense as he is playing first team football in quite a tough league. In contrast, Forecast has failed to impress at any of his loan clubs. He is currently on loan to Bromley (same league as EFC) who lost 3 nil to Leyton Orient on Saturday - he was in goal.

I think his continuing loyalty might coincide with suggestions that he failed a medical at Sporting Braga after his previous contract expired, but to be fair he has not created or rocked the boat about lack of chances here.
