doddisalegend Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 (edited) All good stuff. Though being reliant on Rickie and Adam a weakness? I suppose it is, but isn't it one that all teams have? Every team has a couple of players that are important and would struggle without don't they? Every team has a couple of players that are important and would struggle without don't they? It's b0ll0x, we're not reliant on them. How many goals and assists has Guly chipped in with in the last few games? He's our best performing forward currently.

AtomicSaint Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 I don't think we are over reliant on Ricky and Adam this season, look at the Reading result the article opens with Lallana not even on the bench. Yes we appear to be more creative with him in the team but I think the creativity is being shared through out the team. Guly has created at least four goals in recent games and Lambert is also becoming as much of a provider as a scorer, his main contribution in the game at Reading was defending corners. I believe the main strenght is the unity and team spirit that Nigel has bought into the building, long may it continue.

The Kraken Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 after successfully following brighton up the league one promotion ladder last may, adkins promised only a couple of additions to enhance his side true to his word though, there were only four new arrivals. ok
holepuncture Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 Thank you James for delivering a fantastic article about this magnificent football club. We have got a very hard-working honest group of professionals in the building and its great to recieve recognition for that. Since I've been in the building we have worked together as one and that is what is important. Listen, A house divided amongst itself cannot stand. We are taking care of business but make no doubt about it, you've got to believe to achieve. It is a long season, but we are fit, healthy, together as one and looking forward to it. Crisp led for a long period of time and Red Rum came with a great run at the very end and pipped him to the post, so we have to stay focused on our game. We'll keep chipping away and the lads are taking care of business. It's about winning football matches - it's as simple as that.

SNSUN Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 Our form without Lallana showed we are not reliant on him. Chaplow has been outstanding for a couple of months now, and Guly is having a great season too, so in terms of creativity, we are blessed. Lambert perhaps fills the category of "if he's out, we'll struggle", because while he doesn't always get the goals, so much play goes through him. We know this and I'm pretty sure Adkins knows this, which is why I wouldn't be suprised to see a striking addition in January. We could cope without him though, we have a big squad and, just as Chaplow admirably filled in for Lallana, I reckon someone would step up in Lambert's absence, should the worst happen. It's a good piece though, and I cannot get enough of reading praise about our team this season. I will never get tired of that!
wild-saint Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 At least it didnt gloss over the risks.[/quote To be fair if you analysed all of the teams strengths and weaknesses you could select two players that once removed would have significant effect on performances / consitantcy. trousers Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 Were our odds to win the league really as long as 20-1 at the start of the season?
KK the 2nd Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 Were our odds to win the league really as long as 20-1 at the start of the season? could well have been ... I saw 18/1 but rather conservatively took the 11/2 on promotion as I couldn't see us winning the league (doh!). still 11/2 looking good!

DanW Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 According to the O/S Guly is top of the assits chart with 8 this season. As you can see, he is 3rd in the league, which is outstanding. Considering how he has 6 league goals, and 7 league assists, that's pretty all-around important.

Considering how he has 6 league goals, and 7 league assists, that's pretty all-around important. I was talking to my new boss today, who's a Bristol City fan, and the first player he asked about (well, after Lambert who he knew because he played for Bristol Rovers) was Guly. I've never talked to a fan of another club who knew of Guly, before he'd played against their team, before. I guess it's indicative of the extra media coverage our success is bringing but also shows Guly must be doing something right.

Danish Saint Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 I'm just happy, they havn't caught on to our central midfielders. Cork, Hammond and Spiderman doesn't get a mention, only Chappers (and that's only because Lallana was injured). Overall good read.
