Saint_clark Posted 9 November, 2011 Share Posted 9 November, 2011 Fair play, absolutely brilliant value, wish we had prices like that. Considering the situation you have to be in to be charging those sorts of prices, are you sure about that?
Hatch Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 Wonder what the take up will be, still worth it even if you are a glory fan and only go to see Man U, Man C , Arse, and liverpool . They may have played them already , but you get my point.
pap Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 I know Wigan - and a lot of people who live there or thereabouts. I only know one actual Wigan fan though. 81K people in Wigan itself, many of whom are scouse/manc or have scouse/manc parents, so a lot of Liverpool, Everton, United and City fans. Simple supply and demand really. Dave Whelan is passionate about supplying Wiganers with football, Wiganers are already getting their football from somewhere else. Not surprised by the low cost of ST at all, really.
Nexstar Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 DW must be pumping a lot of money into that club, low attendances and very low prices, with Premier League wages.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 (edited) Obviously preparing for the Championship next season. Could rival Derby for the lowest ever points total in the PL. Edited 10 November, 2011 by Window Cleaner
Saint_clark Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 DW must be pumping a lot of money into that club, low attendances and very low prices, with Premier League wages. No guarantee of that. If we can afford to have players on £20k a week (if you believe that) then they certainly can with the extra TV money. He has put in an absolute fortune over the years, and the club would not exist in its present form without him. I don't know this for a fact, but you'd have to guess that his vision was long-term, and that the kids in the area would support their local team over one of the bigger behemoths in their midst. Dimond Geezer Posted 10 November, 2011 Share Posted 10 November, 2011 The brother of my Scouse mate is a die hard Liverpool fan, but let his season ticket go about 10-15 years ago, due to financial reasons. When his cash flow took a turn for the better he re-applied for a ticket, only to find he was at the end of a very long waiting list. So he gets his prem fix by getting a Wigan ST. I'm told there are quite a lot of Scousers & Mancs who do the same.
stkev7 Posted 11 November, 2011 Share Posted 11 November, 2011 If we actually expand our stadium and then hit bad times again these are the sort of deals we'd need to fill up the stadium. Fairplay Wigan, terrible support but good on Dave Whelan for doing something to improve their shocking attendances. I wonder what the season ticket holders who forked out full whack at the start of the season think about this deal?
