Have you ever worn fancy dress to football?

Face paint- Never. I don't think. If I did I would have been part of "young saints" at The Dell

Wig- Once. Strachan wig at Villa away. Don't worry, almost everyone else did it too.

Jester hat- Never.

Replica shirt- When I was a kid. Will only come out for Wembley trips (eg- JPT final) etc these days.

Scarf- Not anymore. Did a few years ago under my jacket

Stone Island- Used to wear it now and again. Bit too much of a laughing stock brand these days.

How did I do?

No never not even Stone Island (which isn't fancy dress if your putting it with the others).

Of course it is. It's no different to wearing a jesters hat imo. It's just another "look at me" in my football costume statement.

Depends when you wore it, back in the 90s when no one else knew what it was it was hardly a look at me, but around the turn of the century it did become over done. Still a top Stone Island jacket is one of the best you can get, it is all the cheap knock off jumpers and fakes that make them look dreadful.

i wore a scarf and a shirt as a kid growing up, as would most fans i'd imagine.

Wore a home shirt to the JPT Final and an away shirt to the FA Cup final. May have worn that white 3rd kit thing with the red collar to the FA Cup semi as well but can't really remember. To be honest I can't remember much about that day at all!

Other than that... no.

Yes. Wore an "Instant Arab" kit (tea towel and porno moustache) during Benali day away at Oldham, many moons ago also a Fez and Kazoo at Dellhurst Park.

i remember that day, and there is a pic from it in the "cult heros" book in the Benali chapter, cracking photo

Of course you're right. I love the old polish proverb "eagles fly high and sheep flock together" and what we have seen in recent years is an explosion in horrible teenagers clad head to toe in the most ostentatious labels - the bigger and more prominent the better. It makes me cringe far more than anyone wearing a club shirt.

Absolutely agree. I've been a masive fan of Adidas Originals trainers for years now but I'm even starting to go off those as they seem to have become the uniform of choice now.

I've always worn adidas because that what me and my friends wore 15 years ago and i've stuck with them, but like you say they have just become so ordinary and they've never been very comfortable anyway. Reckon i'll have a pair of lacostes next time.

Got off the train for Derby Away with London Saints on Chris Marsden day a few years back.

We had a lot of beer in the Micro Brewery by the Station.

We all wore Condoms on our heads as we entered the ground.

The comment was made that the particular LS member was never going to use them up any other way so he may as well share the packet of 12 around.

We were not alone.

I wear one of the retro replica kits, do I get extra fancy dress points for that? I also took a giant banana to Blackburn in the relegation season and ended up in the programme of the next match! As I think it was saintkiptanui who went on about frozen bananas and arses for ages after that for some reason!

i remember that, it wasn't at all funny any everyone who did it embarrassed the club as well as themselves that day.

You can blame Football Factory & Green St for that!

Previously SI and CP were unknown to the masses.

Be it face paint - no

a wig - no

a jesters hat - no

a replica shirt - not since about 1996 i'd say. recall wearing one at the Dell when we beat Pompey 3-0, not since i dont think. Sanderson big collar it was. Stiff breeze hit me walking along bedford road and nearly blew me to the ground unaided

a scarf - see above.

or chavy stone island labels? - no

A pole would be better wouldnt it?

Yep.

Was a great idea after leaving the pub.

Was incredibly stupid when we saw the photos.

However was one of the few parts of the actual game that I remember .....

Never worn any fancy dress or a replica shirt to a game.

Went to Liverpool last away game of the season in 2004 (I think) when we drew 0-0 and had a Pink Panther costume to wear but couldn't bring myself to do it. No idea why I even thought that would be a good idea in the first place! Probably would have collapsed if I had worn it as it was really hot and I was severely dehydrated due to spending the previous evening on the lash in Liverpool.

I love getting fancy dressed up at football, there is nothing quite like it. Away from the internet i'm quite a dull and bland person really who struggles to engage in meaningful conversations with people. Getting dressed in hilarious outfits is a good way to show everyone that i am a little bit, well mad and not as boring as i look and really do know how to have fun.

I've got loads of brilliant outfits that show how crazy i am. As well as the standard face paints, jester hats and/or wig for games together with my giant foam hands i've got loads of other truely MENTAL costumes for special occasions. I've gone to games in the past dressed in many nutty outfits, probably the one i had the biggest laugh in though was a red gimp suit i wore to Peterborough away last season and a similar one to the Pompey home game in the cup last year. That really drew attention to myself with everyone seeing how mad i am. The whole day was one long LOLathon.

I actually know the lad that wore that red gimp suit......I will ask him if you can borrow it for the game down there.
