Always nice when another teams captain says it...

"JM: We're about a third of the way through the Championship season so far. Southampton are currently five points clear at the top, are they the best team you've faced and who are your tips for promotion?

JH: I think they are the best we've faced. It was only the first day of the season, but you could tell then they looked really strong. They are probably the best side we've faced, especially going forward where they've got some very good players such as (Rickie) Lambert and (Adam) Lallana. Lallana's a top player and arguably one of the best in this league and he's been a big part in them getting off to a great start.

They've just carried on where they left off from last season, so it's really up to us and the rest of the sides to try and catch them."

I love how managers/players/fans of other clubs are all saying they need to catch up to us...bet you won't hear Poyet say it though.

The problem is that Poyet and Brighton took offence when Nigel asked if they could keep up, and laughed and said they could last season. But perhaps Nigel meant more than the one season??????

Sorry, off topic. I think that it is the only opinion we can listen to as these are the ones that have to face it, and either be honest, or make an excuse that most see through any way.

regardless of when we played (them). How can anyone say anything else about a side 5 points clear at the top after 16 games ?

Actuallywhat happened was that an inteviewer asked Nigel if we could keep up with Brighton, who were at that stage well ahead at the top of L1 and Nigel then answered, clearly light-heartedly, 'can they keep up with us?' How Poyet managed to find that offensive, God knows.

I seem to remember him answering a question with "if they can keep up, yeah". They actually didn't keep up with our form from the moment he said that until the end of the season but they had too large a head start. Its science.
