hamster Posted 7 November, 2011 Share Posted 7 November, 2011 Wotte was a bit smarmy but in his defence, who would turn down a job like that...with such potential if you actually get it right? Fair play to him, just a regular Joe trying to earn a crust imho.

bpsaint Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 Ahhh yes Mark Wotte, the tosspiece who froze Adam Lallana out of the squad as he didn't rate him leaving AL seriously down about his football. That episode for me taints any good he did for us, clueless ******.

david in sweden Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 Out of order, Wotte was a good guy. I'd go with that Dibden, I thought he showed up very loyal and positive when things were at their darkest (pre-Liebherr) ....good luck to him. del boy Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 Jan and Mark had a thankless task when they were here - in their defence I'd say we played some of the most attractive football for years with our "kids" and limited resources, even though it didn't last too long once the lack of quality in depth was exposed and the physical demands of the league kicked in. SouthlondonSaint Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 I don't post often, more of an observer on the site. However, I must echo the words of somptingsaint. Mark Wotte stood by Saints during our darkest hours, he tried to put out a young attacking side and keep the 'ball rolling'. He was gutted at the end having signed a new contract to be shown the door. He left with dignity and our thanks. I liked the bloke, he once gave my son a Saints baseball cap as we stood watching training one day when it was ****ing down! Good guy imho, hope he can sort out the sweaty socks. AndyNorthernSaints Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 As i said at the time it is a strange appointment. Scotland may lack numbers of quality players to choose from these days but one thing Scotland has never lacked in is great managers and coaches etc for this type of role. dellgirl Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 Will probably do as well as Burley when he went north. He told me McGoldrick was going to be the next big thing in English football. Not a favourite ,too in love with himself , but glad he had a kind side when it mattered.
sammysaint Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 Seemed a nice chap and him and JP were thrown in at the deep end and to be honest i loved watching our passing at times just a shame we could have played stern john and sagawoski more and we would of stayed up. He knows his stuff and after reading that story earlier in the thread fair play to the bloke. I wouldnt mind Jan back as a coach to be honest, seemed a great coach. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one left with this impression of a difficult time in our history... I would have loved for that experiment to turn out well! And I certainly prefer our chosen route to the one our blue neighbours chose when in economical trouble...
