After an operation to remove the scaphoid bone in my right wrist 4 years ago I am suffering dreadful pains in my wrist. Does anyone know of any strong pain relief to use? Failing that I've been offered a new titanium wrist at 80k but really don't want to go through surgery again. The pain is unbearable.

Are you calling me a vvanker? I broke my wrist 15 years ago and never bothered to get it fixed until the pain brought tears to my eyes.

Nooooooo! :D

You can get RSI from over-use of the keyboard, for example. I had it once when I moved into a house with (single) georgian windows that I had to clean all in one go. It was bloody painful.

Call Conrad Murray for advice. He knows all about painkillers, and seems trustworthy.

If the pain is more unbearable than the thought of paying 80k, just pay it !

There are a whole new raft of operations designed to seek " relief" from varying types of Arthritus. My recent knee Op was an example, it has taken 4 months to get back to anything approaching fitness but my standard Meniscus Op included some experimental stuff actually filing the bones down smooth again.

It hurt like hell, BUT it was a hell of a lot less than a new knee would have cost me in a few years time & because I found a researcher (by googling) he subsidised the cost so he could use videos of the inside of my knee at Arthritus Specialist Conventions.

Of course it depends on the actual type but may be worth looking at. Total cost would have been $10k, half was insurance for the Meniscus the rest they covered, but even at that price it is a lot cheaper than Titatnium.

If you want I'll PM my guys info.

You need to see with doctors about being put on Prozac or better still Cymbalta both of which calm the central nervous system and relieve pain. You can do a google search for both drugs but you won't get them without medical approval. Wishing you the very best in resolving the problem.

If you know of a reputable Acupuncture Doctor, preferably training in China, that could offer a means of killing the pain.

And co-codamol isn't prescription, you just ask at the pharmacist and they tell you a bit about it first.

eh? I thought it was script only.

Plus it bungs you up something chronic, if you do take it get some strong laxatives at the same time.

The 30/500s which I am on are script only. The 8/500s definitely are over the counter, not sure on the 15/500s.

Constipation definitely (told you I'm full of sh!te) but not had hallucinations.

I don't know about medicalised marijuana, but on the rare occasions I have a spliff available whilst undergoing joint agony, the spliff wins. I think I've increased the dose over the years, but I used to take 2.3g of ibuprofen every day and that's a one way ticket to kidney damage. Also interleaved that with 2g of Paracetamol, which is a non stiop train to liver damage. Diclofanec, as mentioned above is good also, but is still NSAID and works quickly, but also loses effect quickly. Basically, a drug pot-pourri combined with appropriate supplements (Krill oil, omega3, flax seed - any oily stuff) will keep you functioning for a while. Ultimately though, your joints, like mine are fricked and it's a damage limitation exercise.
