Dog Posted 7 November, 2011 Share Posted 7 November, 2011 After an operation to remove the scaphoid bone in my right wrist 4 years ago I am suffering dreadful pains in my wrist. Does anyone know of any strong pain relief to use? Failing that I've been offered a new titanium wrist at 80k but really don't want to go through surgery again. The pain is unbearable. I had it once when I moved into a house with (single) georgian windows that I had to clean all in one go. It was bloody painful.

Call Conrad Murray for advice. He knows all about painkillers, and seems trustworthy.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 You may actually need an anti inflammatory, such as Diclofenac, marketed as Voltarol.

Surely his GP can arrange for him to see a consultant?
dubai_phil Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 There are a whole new raft of operations designed to seek " relief" from varying types of Arthritus. My recent knee Op was an example, it has taken 4 months to get back to anything approaching fitness but my standard Meniscus Op included some experimental stuff actually filing the bones down smooth again. It hurt like hell, BUT it was a hell of a lot less than a new knee would have cost me in a few years time & because I found a researcher (by googling) he subsidised the cost so he could use videos of the inside of my knee at Arthritus Specialist Conventions. Of course it depends on the actual type but may be worth looking at. Total cost would have been $10k, half was insurance for the Meniscus the rest they covered, but even at that price it is a lot cheaper than Titatnium. If you want I'll PM my guys info. Jillyanne Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 I don't think Propofal is available in this country, would be amusing though to see MJ's killer put down a DOG also.
ART Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 You need to see with doctors about being put on Prozac or better still Cymbalta both of which calm the central nervous system and relieve pain. You can do a google search for both drugs but you won't get them without medical approval. Wishing you the very best in resolving the problem. If you know of a reputable Acupuncture Doctor, preferably training in China, that could offer a means of killing the pain.

Whitey Grandad Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 Mine is similar, but nowhere near as bad as yours. A wrist support may help and you can try Ibuprofen gel and steroid injections but I think that the only solution is another operation with maybe an implant. Back to the quack. scotty Posted 8 November, 2011 Share Posted 8 November, 2011 And co-codamol isn't prescription, you just ask at the pharmacist and they tell you a bit about it first. eh? I thought it was script only. Plus it bungs you up something chronic, if you do take it get some strong laxatives at the same time.

The 8/500s definitely are over the counter, not sure on the 15/500s. Constipation definitely (told you I'm full of sh!te) but not had hallucinations. tpbury Posted 9 November, 2011 Share Posted 9 November, 2011 I don't know about medicalised marijuana, but on the rare occasions I have a spliff available whilst undergoing joint agony, the spliff wins. I think I've increased the dose over the years, but I used to take 2.3g of ibuprofen every day and that's a one way ticket to kidney damage. Also interleaved that with 2g of Paracetamol, which is a non stiop train to liver damage. Diclofanec, as mentioned above is good also, but is still NSAID and works quickly, but also loses effect quickly. Basically, a drug pot-pourri combined with appropriate supplements (Krill oil, omega3, flax seed - any oily stuff) will keep you functioning for a while. Ultimately though, your joints, like mine are fricked and it's a damage limitation exercise.
